Monta EV Chargers Performance Score 2025
Based on more than 24 million live charging sessions on the 260,000 charge points connected to our platform in 2025, we evaluate charging station models deployed mainly across Europe. The ranking features the top 50 AC and top 10 DC models that meet our inclusion criteria for 2025.
A new framework for measuring EV charge point performance
This is Monta’s second EV charge point performance ranking. Compared to our Q1 2025 edition, we have refined the methodology: user satisfaction ratings, though still collected, are no longer part of the performance score, which now relies exclusively on charge success rate and uptime — two indicators directly traceable to hardware performance.
We have so far used the overall charge success score, including failures by the user and authentication or payment issues. This algorithm now excludes user errors, authentication and payment errors, and uses a charge success definition that is only related to hardware errors.
Each model’s overall performance score is the weighted combination of its charge success rate and uptime (50% each).
It offers a unique, independent data-driven benchmark for operational reliability, energy delivery, and performance across the EV charging ecosystem.
Top 50 AC chargers: strong consistency, tight competition

In today’s recharging landscape, alternating current (AC) charging stations are the majority, especially in Europe, where they are used in most residential and commercial parking lots. Although slower than DC fast charging stations, they offer a reliable, efficient, and cheaper solution for daily recharging.
In Monta’s 2025 Top 50 AC ranking, the first place is held by Mennekes (AMTRON Professional, Germany) with a score of 94.65, followed by Etrel (INCH Pro, Slovenia) at 93.58 and Zaptec (Pro, Norway) at 93.51. Swedish brand Nexblue places two models in the top 10 — Edge (4th, 93.36) and Edge 2 (10th, 91.93) — alongside Easee, with Charge (5th, 93.01) and Home (8th, 92.50).
The gap between first and tenth place stands at 2.72 points, and less than 4.5 between first and 25th, reflecting a high level of consistency among the top-ranked models.

Top 10 DC chargers: high performers in a competitive segment

Direct current (DC) charging stations enable fast charging of electric cars, thanks to significantly reduced charging times.
Italy’s Alpitronic dominates the 2025 ranking with five models in the top 10, taking the top four positions: HYC 400 leads with a score of 96.54, followed by HYC 200 (96.46) and HYC 300 (95.16) completing the top three, and HYC 150 in 4th place (94.16). Finland’s Kempower places two models in the ranking, with C-Series 5th at 93.85 and S-Series 8th at 91.51.

Scores range from 96.54 to 91.02, a gap of 5.52 points, reflecting how competitive the fast-charging segment has become at the top end.
How is the performance score calculated?
The performance score is calculated from two core indicators.
Charge success rate – The share of sessions that completed without interruption and delivered energy. We count as failures for this rate: (a) charges that failed due to hardware (by our failure classification), and (b) charges that delivered less than 1 kWh. User-related issues—authorization, payment, insufficient funds, user cancellation—are not counted as failures.
Uptime (availability) – The share of time a charging station is technically operational and available. Uptime is computed only for charge points that have been updated (had activity) within the last 14 days, so permanently disconnected or decommissioned hardware is excluded from uptime after 14 days.
It is currently rolled out on our real-time data.
Ranking methodology
Monta’s engineers have developed an objective rating system for charging stations based on field data. The framework uses the two indicators – Charge success rate and Uptime (availability) above to reflect the quality and reliability of charging stations as experienced by electric vehicle drivers. Both indicators have a 50% weight in the overall score.
Inclusion
Models are included only if they meet: at least 100 stations (AC) or 30 stations (DC) connected to our platform, and at least 100 charges per day on average over the last 7 days. Models below these thresholds are excluded.
Score calculation over time
The two indicators are computed daily using a rolling 7-day window. For year-to-date and annual rankings, we use every day in the reporting period (1 January to 31 December 2025). Each model’s overall performance score is the weighted combination of its charge success rate and uptime (50% each).
Note
User satisfaction (post-session feedback from EV drivers) is still collected on the platform. In 2025 we refined the methodology so that the ranking is based only on metrics that can be clearly traced to hardware performance (charge success rate and uptime). User ratings remain valuable for the overall experience but are not included in this hardware-focused ranking.
About the ranking
Models are ordered by this performance score (higher score = better performance). We publish separate rankings for AC and DC models and show the top 50 AC and top 10 DC that meet the inclusion criteria. The ranking therefore reflects which models are most reliable in the field, and allows comparison across the ecosystem and over time (e.g. impact of software updates).
