Introduction

1.1 What is a Plan?

With Subscription plans, you can offer a wide range of services to your clients, including operational support, maintenance, leasing, charge point repairs, charging perks and more. When you create and apply these services to your customer’s Teams or charge points, your company assumes the role of a third-party service provider, responsible for managing the plan and delivering the agreed-upon services to your clients.

In short:

Definition: A plan is a predefined template or product offering. It outlines what services you offer, the pricing structure, terms, billing frequency, and included features.

Purpose: A Plan acts as a reusable blueprint that can be applied to many customers.

Analogy: Like the Netflix’s product page – plans show the available services, prices and packages that you can get but don’t represent any specific customer contract yet.

As you apply this plan to customers, you establish a customer contract and start generating revenue. Once a plan is applied to a Team or charge point, it becomes an active subscription.

Through Monta Hub, you have the flexibility to create multiple types of Subscription plans:

Plan type

Pricing model

Use case

Description

Team plan

Flat fee

Platform fees, Charge discount subscriptions, SLAs

A plan you apply as a subscription to a customer’s team, which then pays a fixed price each month. In short:

Definition: A subscription represents the contractual relationship between your business and a customer.

Purpose: A subscription tracks how a customer consumes the plan, its billing details, and their lifecycle (start, renewals, cancellations, edit options).

Analogy: Like your personal Netflix subscription – your subscription shows which plan you’re on, how long you’ve had it, and any specific usage or discounts tied to you.

1.3 Subscription payment methods

Note: The following requirements take effect on April 27, 2026 (for new subscriptions) and May 18, 2026 (for all existing PAYG teams). Current processes remain unchanged until these dates.

Subscription fees for a team can be paid using one of three billing methods. The billing method determines whether a team payment card is required.

Billing method

How it works

Card required?

Pay via Operator Transaction

The operator covers all team transactions. No team payment card is required.

Pay as you go: If a card already exists on the team, the subscription is approved and goes live immediately. If no card exists, the subscription is created with Paused status (reason shown: Payment method missing).
