This article explains what KYB is, how it works, and what happens if verification is not completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is KYB?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>KYB stands for Know Your Business. It is a legal requirement under EU anti-money laundering rules (AMLD5\/6). Monta uses KYB to verify that every business using financial features \u2014 such as wallets, bank payouts, and invoicing \u2014 is a legitimate registered entity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KYB verification is handled by Spektr, Monta&#8217;s compliance partner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who needs to complete KYB?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>KYB is required for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All new Operators<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All Professional Teams (business accounts)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Personal Teams and Private Teams are not subject to KYB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What features are blocked without KYB?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Until KYB is approved, the following features are not available:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Adding bank account details<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Withdrawing funds from the wallet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enabling invoicing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Users can still charge and manage charge points while verification is in progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How the KYB process works<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>KYB is completed through a Spektr verification flow. The process involves:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Submitting legal entity details (company name, country of incorporation, VAT number, business address)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Uploading documents (Certificate of Incorporation, proof of business address, company registry extract)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verifying Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBOs) \u2014 all individuals with more than 25% ownership or control<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Each UBO must complete individual identity verification (government-issued ID, proof of address, selfie\/liveness check, PEP and sanctions screening).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">KYB status<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Your KYB status is visible in your account settings. The possible statuses are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Pending<\/strong> \u2014 verification has been submitted and is under review<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Approved<\/strong> \u2014 verification is complete and all financial features are unlocked<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rejected<\/strong> \u2014 verification was not approved; contact support for next steps<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Most standard verifications are completed within 48 hours. Complex cases requiring Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) may take up to 72 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to start KYB verification<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>KYB is prompted automatically when you create a new Operator or Professional Team. You can also start or check your verification status from the KYC section in your account settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only users with the <strong>Admin<\/strong> role on an Operator or Team can complete KYB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open Monta Hub.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to <strong>Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>KYC\/KYB verification<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow the on-screen steps to submit your business details.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Expected result: You receive a confirmation when your submission is received. You will be notified when verification is approved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Linking verification across accounts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If your business is already KYB-verified under a different Operator or Team, you can link your existing verification rather than repeating the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is useful when:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The same legal entity operates multiple Teams<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An Operator creates a new Team for an entity already verified elsewhere<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To link an existing verification:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the KYC\/KYB section, select <strong>I already have a verified KYC ID<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the KYC ID from your previously verified account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are adding the link as an Operator user, the link is approved automatically.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are adding the link as a Team user, the Operator or Team with the matching KYC ID must give consent before the link is activated.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Once linked, you can see all Operators and Teams sharing the same KYC ID from the verification overview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Business registration numbers by country<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When completing KYB, you need to provide your company registration number (CRN). The number must be between 4 and 20 characters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Risk classification<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Monta classifies each business as low, medium, or high risk based on factors including entity type, ownership structure, jurisdiction, and business model. Higher-risk classifications may require additional documentation and manual review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KYB approval is renewed automatically on a regular schedule:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Low and medium risk: every 5 years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High risk: every 12 months<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Verification is also re-triggered if your legal structure, UBO composition, or country of incorporation changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is customer due diligence?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Customer due diligence (CDD) is the broader compliance process that includes KYB. Monta is required to carry out CDD on all business customers under EU financial regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For full details, see the <a href=\"https:\/\/monta.com\/en\/legal-risk-compliance\/customer-due-diligence-faq\/\">Customer Due Diligence FAQ<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Troubleshooting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I submitted KYB but my account is still restricted.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Verification is usually completed within 48 hours. If it has been longer, contact Monta support with your submission reference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I was rejected.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contact Monta support. In some cases, additional documentation is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I cannot find the KYC\/KYB section.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only Admin users can access KYB settings.
