Monta publishes its quarterly update of the most high-performing and reliable EV chargers, after our first release in our Whitepaper in January, providing detailed insights for hardware manufacturers, charge point operators (CPOs), and policymakers.

Based on tens of thousands of live charging sessions on our platform, we evaluate the top 50 AC and top 10 DC models deployed mostly across Europe. It offers a unique, data-driven benchmark for operational reliability, energy delivery, and user satisfaction across the EV charging ecosystem.

The results, covering the period from January 1st to March 31st, 2025, reflect usage data primarily from Europe, where the majority of Monta’s sockets are currently deployed. Models which have less than 100 sockets connected on our platform were filtered out in order to ensure a sufficient amount of data to make findings relevant.

Monta's Hardware Portal bridges the gap between manufacturers and their charge points in the field, offering real-time visibility and control post-sale. Improve quality, streamline operations, and boost your sales in the growing EV charging market.

The Monta Performance Score is calculated from three core indicators:

  • Charge Success Rate – The percentage of sessions completed without interruption.
  • Uptime Rate – The availability of a charger when needed.
  • User Satisfaction Rate – Post-session feedback, scored directly by EV drivers.
Top 10 DC Charge Points 1 1

In today's recharging landscape, alternating current (AC) charging stations are the majority, especially in Europe, where they are used in most residential and commercial parking lots. Although slower than DC fast charging stations, they offer a reliable, efficient, and cheaper solution for daily recharging.

In Monta's Top 50 AC ranking, the first place is held by Siemens (SiCharge CC AC22, Germany), with 85,21 score, followed ex-aequo by Alfen (Twin, Netherlands) Landy & Gyr (INCH Pro, Switzerland) both with a score of 84,78, illustrating a high level of reliability on the top three models, with less than 0.5 points difference.

The gap between first and tenth place is just above 2 points and less than 5 between first and 25th, testifying to an overall high level of performance among the models evaluated.

⚡ Top 10 DC chargers: high performers with wider variability

Direct current (DC) charging stations enable fast charging of electric cars, thanks to significantly reduced charging times.

The Finnish-born Kempower C-Series came out on top with a score of 90.85, 4 points ahead of the runner-up. This high score illustrates excellent operational reliability and a very solid user experience, in a segment where technical constraints are even greater than in AC. Italy’s Alpitronic has four models in the top 10 (2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th places), confirming its position in the DC segment.

Scores range from 90.85 to 79.53, a gap of a bit more than 11 points, wider than in the AC ranking. This shows that performance on DC terminals varies widely from model to model, probably reflecting the technical complexity of high-speed loads.

Ranking methodology
Monta engineers have developed an objective rating system for charging stations, based on field data. This framework is based on three key indicators, defined to reflect the quality and reliability of charging stations as they are actually used by electric vehicle drivers:
Success rate of charging sessions: the proportion of sessions successfully launched and completed, without interruption or malfunction.
Availability: assessment of the time during which a charging station is technically operational and accessible to users.
User satisfaction: feedback, evaluations and comments submitted after each charging session.
The data was collected between January 1 and March 31, 2025 automatically via the Monta platform, which records several thousand sessions worldwide, mainly in Europe, every day. Models which have less than 100 sockets connected were filtered out in order to ensure a sufficient amount of data to make findings relevant. The indicators were then consolidated to establish a ranking of charging station models, making it possible to identify the most reliable equipment, but also to observe the impact of technical evolutions such as software updates.
