"At the start of this year, this partnership with CenEnergy marks a key milestone in our mission to simplify and enhance EV charging. Our two companies combine technological expertise and local roots to meet the growing demand for environmentally friendly mobility in Belgium," says Fanny Arnaud, Monta's Sales Director for France and Belgium.

Belgium, fertile ground for electric mobility

2024 was a landmark year for electric vehicles in Belgium. While EV sales declined in several countries worldwide, Belgium stood out as an exception. New and used EV registrations hit a record high of over 150,000 units. According to TRAXIO, the Belgian automotive federation, the year closed with a 37.3% increase compared to 2023. New EVs accounted for over a quarter of total car sales, reaching 28.5%.

A study by Ayvens, parent company of ALD Automotive - LeasePlan, the world's leading leasing company, ranked Belgium fourth in its global EV market maturity index, with an overall score of 70/100. The study, which analyzed 47 million vehicles across 47 countries, also highlights Belgium's ongoing challenge: the development of charging infrastructure. While Flanders and Brussels are advancing in this area, Wallonia lags significantly behind, slowing broader EV adoption.
