CenEnergy to operate 16k charge points with Monta to transform the electric vehicle charging experience in Belgium

• Through this partnership, Monta will manage 16,000 charging points across Belgium, making it the largest collaboration of its kind in the country to date.

Founded in 2016, CenEnergy is a leading provider of charging solutions in Belgium. It serves both residential projects and commercial or industrial sites, including car parks. In addition to smart charging stations, CenEnergy provides a charging card linked to a platform and app, enabling users to manage their charging experience with ease. As an e-mobility service provider, CenEnergy supports businesses and individuals in their transition to a greener fleet and in optimizing their charging infrastructure.

Operating in France and Belgium since 2023, Monta is a Danish company specializing in the management of EV charging infrastructure. Its platform empowers drivers, solution providers, and station owners with a personalized charging experience, full operational control, and advanced energy management. Monta has established itself as a trusted player through strategic partnerships with key players in the EV charging industry, including charging network operators, energy suppliers, and fleet electrification specialists.

A partnership for simpler and smoother EV charging

By integrating Monta's advanced software solutions, CenEnergy aims to offer its customers streamlined and efficient management of their charging infrastructure. Thanks to its scalable platform, Monta meets current needs and anticipates EV market trends while adapting to partner needs.

The platform provides comprehensive charging point management, including energy balancing, configuring charging point availability (private or public), access (e.g., reservations), and pricing. It also features advanced tools for centralized fleet management, customized charge point access, and automated reimbursement of charging costs - whether at home, on-site, or at work.

Belgium, fertile ground for electric mobility 

2024 was a landmark year for electric vehicles in Belgium. While EV sales declined in several countries worldwide, Belgium stood out as an exception. New and used EV registrations hit a record high of over 150,000 units. According to TRAXIO, the Belgian automotive federation, the year closed with a 37.3% increase compared to 2023. New EVs accounted for over a quarter of total car sales, reaching 28.5%.

A study by Ayvens, parent company of ALD Automotive - LeasePlan, the world's leading leasing company, ranked Belgium fourth in its global EV market maturity index, with an overall score of 70/100. The study, which analyzed 47 million vehicles across 47 countries, also highlights Belgium's ongoing challenge: the development of charging infrastructure. While Flanders and Brussels are advancing in this area, Wallonia lags significantly behind, slowing broader EV adoption.
