How do I configure home energy settings and read a home's power flow in the Hub?

Help Center / Energy, Control, & Optimization / Energy Management Portal / How do I configure home energy settings and read a home's power flow in the Hub?

For: Operators (CPOs) who configure and support the home charging installations of their customers

This article explains how to read the page of one home in the Hub and how to change its energy settings. The page shows the live power flow, the solar production forecast, the meter history, and the home settings. Homeowners do not see these screens. They manage their home in the Monta Charge app.

To find, create, or delete a home, or to add EVSEs and integrations, see How do I set up a home for energy management in the Hub?

Where do I open a home?

Go to CPO / Network → Energy management → Home energy features and select a row to open the home.

From top to bottom, the page shows the power flow, Solar production forecast, EVSEs, Integrations, Meter values, and then Settings.

How do I read the power flow?

The power flow at the top of the page is live. All values are in kW.

  • Grid: shows Importing or Exporting next to the value, not a minus sign. If the home has no smart meter, the tile reads Grid (est.).

  • Solar: shows Producing, or Drawing when the inverter uses power, for example on standby. A value of 0 shows no word.

  • Home: the household use other than charging.

  • Charging: the total of the EVSEs of the home.

  • Surplus: power at the home that isn't being used, so it's available for charging or export. This tile only shows when the home has solar. It shows 0 kW when the home uses more than it produces. It replaces the old Residual tile.

Values in grey are estimates. When no meter measures the household use, Home uses the Continuous consumption setting.

Small cards under the tiles show each source, such as the meter, the solar panels, or each EVSE.

How do I read the solar production forecast?

Solar production forecast shows when the home has solar panels or a forecast.

  • Bars are coloured Sufficient for charging or Below charging threshold.

  • Lines mark Min. 1-phase and Min. 3-phase.

  • Now marks the current hour.

  • Fetched: shows when the forecast was last updated.

If the home has no forecast yet, the card shows "Solar forecast not yet available for this home."

How do I read the meter values?

Meter values shows one chart for the whole-home meter and one chart for each EVSE. The whole-home chart is named after the integration, or Smart meter.

  1. Choose a range: Last 6 hours, Last 24 hours (the default), Last 7 days, Last 30 days, or a custom range.

  2. Switch between Power, Current, and Voltage.

Current and Voltage show the lines L1, L2, and L3.

How do I change the settings of a home?

The Settings section at the bottom of the page has four cards: Circuit, Solar charging, Fuse protection, and Peak protection.

  • The Hub saves a change to a field when you leave the field or press Enter.

  • The Hub saves a switch right away.

  • You cannot clear a number. If you try, the field goes back to the old value.

  • Fields under a switch are greyed out until you turn the switch on. You cannot edit a greyed-out field.

What are the Circuit settings?

  • Voltage L-N (V) and Phases: the Hub only shows these. You cannot edit them.

  • Continuous consumption (W): the always-on load of the home. The Hub uses it for estimates when nothing measures the household use.

What are the Solar charging settings?

Turn on Enable solar charging first. While it is off, every field below it is greyed out.

  • Min surplus current (A): the minimum surplus current for solar charging.

  • Solar start grace period (s): in seconds. The default is 120.

  • Battery protection: a switch.

  • Battery protection lock time (min): in minutes. The default is 60. This field needs both Enable solar charging and Battery protection turned on.

  • Always on: a switch. When it is on, every charge at this home starts as a solar charge by default. It is greyed out while Enable solar charging is off.

For what solar charging does and how drivers use it, see How do I set up and use solar charging at home?

What are the Fuse protection settings?

Turn on Enable fuse protection first. While it is off, the fields below it are greyed out.

  • Fuse limit (A)

  • Safety margin (A)

  • Notify when limiting

For what fuse protection does, see How do I set up and use fuse protection in Monta Charge?

What are the Peak protection settings?

Turn on Enable peak protection first. While it is off, the fields below it are greyed out.

  • Peak limit (kW)

  • Safety margin (kW)

  • Notify when limiting

What does the footer of the page show?

The footer shows the Home ID and a Show raw JSON option. Use them when you contact support about a home.
