How do I monitor an energy-managed location in the Hub?

Help Center / Energy, Control, & Optimization / Energy Management Portal / How do I monitor an energy-managed location in the Hub?

For: Operators (CPOs) and installers who watch the load and charging of an energy-managed location, live or back in time

This article lists what you see in the Hub for an energy-managed location and where to find it. It does not explain the concepts. For what limits, buffer and residual load mean, see How does energy management work in the Hub? If a value looks wrong, see How do I troubleshoot energy management in the Hub?

How do I open a location to monitor it?

  1. Go to CPO / Network → Energy management → Locations.

  2. Open the location.

The location has four tabs: Overview, Topology, Details and Setup. Use Overview and Details to monitor. The Hub refreshes the location data every 5 seconds while the page is open.

What do I see on the Overview tab?

The Overview tab shows the current state of the whole location on one page.

Energy prices

The price chart shows 24-hour price bars. It also shows Now, Current price, Lowest and Highest. Each bar has a price tier:

  • Negative

  • Low: the bottom 20% of prices

  • Medium: the middle 60% of prices

  • High: the top 20% of prices

The chart shows Not available when the location has no price source.

Charging power

The charging power card shows the total live power of the location and the number of EVSEs (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) that are charging, as # EVSEs charging.

Node cards

The location has one card for each node. A card shows:

  • The power of the node against its Power limit.

  • The highest phase current against the fuse limit minus the buffer.

  • A bar with the load as {percent}% of current limit (L1) or % of power limit.

  • The room left, as X A free or X A over.

The bar is green below 80%, amber from 80% to 100%, and red above 100%. A card shows No limit set when the node has no limit.

Select a node card to show only the EVSEs of that node. Select the card again to show all EVSEs.

EVSE rows

Each EVSE has one row. To change the order, use Sort EVSEs by: Charging first, Name, Power (high to low), Power (low to high) or Last updated.

Each row has three parts.

  1. Left: the model image, the name, the identity, and a plug icon with the connector number. When the EVSE is charging, the row shows Charging · alloc X A and the live power. alloc is the current that energy management gives the EVSE. A bar shows the State of Charge (SoC) against the target, as soc% / target%, with the kWh charged. When there is no SoC, a kWh bar shows instead. The row shows Starting… until data arrives. Select the row to open the EVSE page.

  2. Middle: the planned power for each time slot, on one time axis with Now and Max. The row shows No active charge or No charge when nothing is planned.

  3. Right: the charge intent card. It shows Charge now or Price optimize, the SoC target, the kWh target, the departure time and the priority. It also shows the source of the intent: Manual override, RFID, User, Account, Vehicle, EVSE, Smart charge or Location default. RFID stands for Radio-Frequency Identification. To change the intent, open Set manual charge intent from this card.

How do I see live values for a node or an EVSE?

  1. Open the location and go to Details → Live. Live is the first sub-tab.

  2. In Select node or EVSE, search with Search nodes and EVSEs and pick a node or an EVSE. An EVSE shows its parent node.

  3. To reload the values, select Refresh.

The page shows these cards for the node you pick:

  • External meter: the total power, and the power, current and voltage for each phase. This card shows only when the node has a meter. If the meter sends no data, the card shows Meter not receiving data with the Meter identifier. For an MQTT meter, the card shows MQTT meter — connection guide with the Broker, the Topic and the JSON payload format. MQTT stands for Message Queuing Telemetry Transport. JSON stands for JavaScript Object Notation.

  • Active charges (N): the summed load of all active charges under the node.

  • Residual power: the load that is not charging. With a meter, it shows Meter − charges. Without a meter, it shows Assumed, no meter. The assumed value comes from the maximum expected residual and the Meter only EVSEs. The card is hidden when neither is set.

  • EVSEs: one row for each EVSE, with Allocated, Max observed, Charge progress, Charged, Remaining, Started, Intent, Vehicle, Battery capacity or Estimated battery size, kWh planned and the values for each phase. Hover over Started to see how long ago the charge started. EVSEs that are not charging are muted. Select Only show charging to hide them.

To open more actions, select ⋮. For a node, select Node settings. For an EVSE row, select EVSE settings, Meter value history, Integration logs or Go to EVSE.

How do I look at past values?

The history views are sub-tabs under Details. Open the location, go to Details and select the sub-tab.

Each view has a time picker. Select Last 3 hours, Last 24 hours (the default), Last 7 days, or set a custom range of up to 31 days.

Meter values

The Meter values view shows the panels Power, Current and Voltage. For an EVSE, it also shows Energy and the state of charge. The charts include these lines: Fuse limit, Effective limit, Power limit, Allocated power and Allocated current.

  1. To show or hide a data source, switch External meter or Aggregated EVSE on or off.

  2. To zoom in, drag across a chart. To reset the zoom, double-click the chart.

  3. To download the data, select Export CSV. CSV stands for comma-separated values.

Charges

The Charges view lists past and ongoing charges. To find a charge, use Search charge sessions....

Logs

The Logs view lists the log entries for the time range. To find an entry, use Search logs. To download the entries, select Export CSV.

EVSE state history

The EVSE state history view shows a timeline of states for each EVSE. The states include Charging, Ramping up, Paused by energy management, Paused by vehicle and Idle. The view also shows how many times each EVSE paused.

How do I change a setting?

Monitoring does not change any setting. To change settings, use these articles:

What should I read next?

Can I see this from the location page?

Yes. Go to Locations and open the location. Then open the Energy management tab. It shows the energy prices, the node cards and an EVSE table with the columns EVSE, State, Power, State of charge, Plan and Charge intent. Operators also see Open energy management, which opens the full energy management page of the location.

Account users without operator access see this tab as read-only. They cannot change a charge intent, and they do not see Open energy management.
