For: Operators (CPOs) who use Monta Load Management
Monta is moving load balancing groups from the old load balancing tool to energy management in the Hub. Each group becomes a location in energy management. This article explains how the move works, what to check, and how to switch control to the new location.
For how energy management works, see How does energy management work in the Hub? For problems after the move, see How do I troubleshoot energy management in the Hub?
How does the move work?
Use the Migration Dashboard at energy.monta.app/migration to migrate each group in two steps:
Select Import to create a new energy management location from the old load balancing group. The new location is inactive, so you can review it in the Hub while the old group still controls charging.
Use the Legacy / Energy switch to hand control to the new location. This activates the location.
The move preserves your configuration:
Each top-level group becomes one location.
Sub-groups become nodes under the location's top node.
Charging stations in the group become EVSEs on those nodes.
Max amps per phase becomes a fuse limit on the node.
The max amp schedule becomes a power limit schedule on the node. Limits are converted from amps to power.
An inactive location is view-only. Once you activate it, you can edit it as usual. You can activate it in the Migration Dashboard, or in the Hub under CPO/Network > Energy management > your location > Setup > Location configuration > Danger zone > Location active status.
What if activation fails?
The Hub shows Failed to activate location with a reason. Your old load balancing group keeps control.
"EVSE … is on an OCPP load balancing group…"
An EVSE is still in another load balancing group. Remove it from that group, then activate again. To do this, open the location's page in the Hub and go to Settings > Load balancing > Open portal.
Can I switch back to my old group?
Yes. You can switch back in the Migration Dashboard or by deactivating the location:
Open the location and go to Setup > Location configuration > Danger zone.
Turn off Location active status.
Confirm in the Deactivate location dialog.
Control returns to your old group. The old group does not include changes you made to the location after the move. If the old group has been deleted, you cannot deactivate the location, and it stays active.
Common questions
Energy management is not in my menu
Your user or account may not have access. Contact Monta.
How long do I have for the migration?
There is no fixed end date yet. We are monitoring the migration and will announce an end date in advance. After that date, Monta will complete any remaining migrations for you.
Should I delete my old group after the move?
No. Keep it until Monta removes it. Until then, it takes over again if you switch back.
Can I still change my old group after the move?
You can, but changes are not copied to the location automatically.
Can I change the location after I activate it?
Yes. You can edit nodes, EVSEs, meters, and charge intents as usual. If you switch back later, the old group does not include these changes.
