For: Operators (CPOs) and installers who build or change the nodes of an energy-managed location
This article lists the steps to add, edit, schedule, limit and delete nodes in the Hub. It does not explain the concepts. For what fuse limit, buffer, power limit, schedules and external limits mean, see How does energy management work in the Hub? For the first setup of a location, see How do I set up energy management for a location in the Hub?
How do I open the nodes of a location?
Go to CPO / Network → Energy management → Locations.
Open the location.
Go to Setup → Nodes.
The table shows each node with these columns: Name, Fuse limit, Buffer, Power limit, Power limit schedule, External limit, EVSEs and Sub-nodes. The top node is marked Root. You cannot delete it.
The steps below start from this table. Select ⋮ on a node row to see the actions for that node.
How do I add a node?
Select New in the table toolbar. To add the node under a specific node, select ⋮ → Add node on that node's row instead.
In the Add node dialog, check Parent node. If you started from a node row, this is that node.
Enter a Node name.
-
Turn on the limits you need. All of them are optional:
Set fuse limit. Enter the Fuse limit (A).
Set amp buffer. This needs a fuse limit. Select a Buffer mode, Amps (A) or Percentage (%). The dialog shows the result as Effective buffer: X A.
Set power limit. Enter the Power limit (kW).
Max expected residual. Enter the Current per phase (A) and the Power (kW).
Select Create node.
You cannot move a node to another parent later. To change the parent, delete the node and add it again under the right parent.
How do I edit the limits of a node?
On the node row, select ⋮ → Edit node.
Change the name or the limits. The fields are the same as in the Add node dialog.
Select Save changes.
How do I set a power limit schedule for one node?
A power limit schedule sets the power limit in kW for time slots. Active slots override the power limit of the node.
On the node row, select ⋮ → Power limit schedule.
In the Repeat field, select Every day or Custom week.
Add a slot. Select Add time slot or Add rule, or click or drag on the timeline. Set the time range and the limit in kW.
Repeat step 3 for each slot you need. Slots cannot overlap.
Select Save schedule.
A slot that ends before it starts covers the start and the end of each day. For example, 22:00 to 06:00 limits 00:00 to 06:00 and 22:00 to 24:00.
To reuse a schedule, select Export to save it as a file. Select Import to load a schedule file. To clear the schedule, select Remove all, then select Save schedule.
How do I set the same power limit schedule for several nodes?
In the nodes table, select the rows of the nodes.
Select Set power limit schedule.
Add the slots as described in the section above. To add more nodes or remove nodes, use Apply to in the dialog.
Select Save schedule.
If the selected nodes have different schedules, saving replaces them with the new schedule.
You can also open Apply to from the dialog of a single node.
How do I set an external power limit?
An external power limit caps the power of a node for a set time. When it expires, the node returns to its configured limits.
On the node row, select ⋮ → External power limit.
Enter the Power limit in kW. A limit of 0 kW stops charging on this node entirely.
Select a time in Expires at. The time must be in the future.
Select Set limit.
If the limit is higher than the limit of the node, the Hub warns you that charging can exceed what is normally allowed.
The External limit column then shows Active limit: … and Until ….
How do I clear an external power limit?
On the node row, select ⋮ → External power limit.
Select Clear limit.
The node returns to its configured limits at once.
How do I delete a node?
On the node row, select ⋮ → Delete node.
Confirm the deletion.
The Hub removes the node and everything under it from energy management, including its sub-nodes. The EVSEs stay in the Hub, but their energy management settings are deleted. To use them again, add them to a node and set them up again. You cannot delete the Root node.
How do I see the node structure in Topology?
Open the location, then select the Topology tab.
Select Tree view to see the nodes as a diagram. Select Data grid to see the same nodes as a table.
In the tree view, select ⋮ on a node to use these actions: Add EVSE, Add node, Add meter, Move meter, Remove meter, Edit node and Delete node.
Dragging a node only changes its position on screen. Select Reset layout to undo it. Dragging an EVSE onto another node moves the EVSE to that node.
Where do I see the limits in use?
On the location overview, the node cards show % of current limit.
Go to Details and pick a node. The Node limits card and the Meter values chart show the Fuse limit, Effective limit and Power limit lines.
