Home charging troubleshooting

This article covers common issues with home charging on a personal charge point, including interrupted charges, incorrect SmartCharge timing, failed charges, and disconnected charge points.

For: EV drivers using a personal charge point at home with Monta Charge

My charge was interrupted

If your car stopped charging before reaching the kWh limit:

  1. Open the logs for the charge point in Monta Charge or Monta Hub.
  2. If you see Suspended EVSE, the issue is with the charge point. Check the charge point's native software for any settings that could interrupt a charge.
  3. If you see Suspended EV, the issue is with the car. Check the car's settings to remove any charging schedules or charging limits.

SmartCharge starts at the wrong time

  1. Check your SmartCharge preferences to make sure they correctly reflect your priorities.
  2. Check that your cable, charge point, or car are not limiting the charge speed. Confirm the charge point's charging speed is correctly set in Monta Charge.
  3. Verify that the electricity cost section in the charge point settings is correctly filled out.
  4. Check the charge point's native software settings to make sure it is not set to start charging independently (for example, Free Charging or Free Vending mode).

My charge failed

There are several possible reasons why a charge may fail:

  • The charge point is disconnected — if the charge point has lost internet connection, it will show as "Disconnected" and charging will not be possible until the connection is restored.
  • Payment issue — check that your payment method in Monta is valid and has sufficient funds.
  • Charge point error — check the charge point's status in Monta Charge for any error messages and try a hard reboot.
  • Car issue — check the car's charging settings and remove any limits or scheduled charging set in the car.

If the issue persists, contact Monta support via Monta Charge > Me > Support.
