What is revenue share?

Revenue share lets you configure how charge revenue is automatically distributed between your operator account and one or more recipient accounts — for example, to compensate a site owner whose land your charge points occupy.

Revenue share lets you configure how charge revenue is automatically distributed between your operator account and one or more recipient accounts — for example, to compensate a site owner whose land your charge points occupy.

You define the terms once in a policy, then apply that policy to pairs of accounts as agreements. Monta records a per-charge calculation each time a session completes, and funds move according to the money flow method you select.

How it works

Policy — defines the terms of the revenue split: the kind (percentage of net revenue or a fixed amount per kWh), the electricity seller, the split value, the valid-from date, and the money flow method. A policy starts in Draft; you must activate it before applying it to accounts.

Each policy operates in one of two directions — Operator to account: revenue flows from the operator to the recipient account, and all of the operator's charges are in scope by default. Account to account: revenue flows between two specific accounts; you select both the source account and the recipient when applying the policy.

Agreement — applies a policy to a specific source-recipient pair of accounts. The source is the account whose charge revenue is being shared; the recipient is the account that receives the share. One agreement is created per recipient.

Calculations — per-charge records showing the share amount each session generated under an active agreement. You can review and export them from the Calculations tab.

Money flow options

When creating a policy, select how the share reaches the recipient:

Wallet live — a wallet transaction fires per charge in real time.

External money flow — Monta only computes the share; funds move outside Monta via CSV export or Partner API.

Create a policy

  1. Select the Policies tab.
  2. Click Create policy.
  3. Terms — enter a name, select the kind (% of net revenue or per kWh), choose the seller, set the split value, and pick a valid-from date.
  4. Tax mode (percentage policies only) — choose how the base is calculated before applying the percentage:
Net (excludes tax) (default) — the percentage is applied to the charge price after tax is stripped.
Gross (includes tax) — the percentage is applied to the charge price before tax is stripped.
Example: a 15% share on a charge of 100 net / 125 gross pays 15.00 on Net (excludes tax) and 18.75 on Gross (includes tax).
  5. Review — confirm the details and click Create policy.

Activate a policy

A policy must be active before you can apply it to accounts.

  1. Open the policy.
  2. Click Activate.

To move a policy back to draft, open the policy and click Revert to draft.

Apply a policy

  1. Open an active policy and click Apply.
  2. Source — select the account whose charge revenue is shared. For Operator to account policies, the operator is the source and no selection is needed. For Account to account policies, select the source account.
  3. Recipient — select one or more accounts that receive the share. One agreement is created per recipient. There is no restriction on the type of account that can be a recipient.
  4. Scope (optional) — narrow the agreement to sessions from a specific account's charge points. Scope is matched against the account that owns the charge point where each session took place.
For Operator to account agreements, leaving scope empty applies the share to all charges across the operator. Set scope only if you want to limit it to a specific account's charge points.
Example: to pay a site owner 5% only on sessions at their site, set scope to the account that owns those charge points. To pay 5% across all sessions operator-wide, leave scope empty.
  5. Click Apply to [N] recipient(s).

How the recipient sees a payment

In a Wallet live agreement, the recipient's wallet shows a single incoming revenue-share transaction for the share amount only. They do not see the full charge amount coming in, nor the remainder going out — only the share they are owed.

From the operator's side, the full charge payment arrives as normal, and a separate outgoing transfer for the share amount is recorded.

Stacking policies

Two or more active policies can cover the same charge at the same time. Each policy calculates independently and creates its own wallet transfer — they do not chain. The percentage in each policy is always applied to the charge's net-of-tax amount, not to what remains after another policy's per-kWh payback has been deducted.

Manage an agreement

From the Agreements tab or an agreement's detail page, you can:

Pause — temporarily stops new charges from generating a share. Existing calculations are preserved.

Resume — reactivates a paused agreement.

End — permanently closes the agreement. This cannot be undone. Existing calculations are preserved, but no new charges generate a share under this agreement.

View calculations

  1. Go to Finance > Revenue share and select the Calculations tab, or open an agreement and click View calculations.
  2. Optionally filter by agreement, status, or date.
  3. Click the export button to download the CSV.

Wallet monthly (coming soon) — shares accrue across the month and settle at the end of each cycle.

View settlements

The Settlements tab on the main Revenue share page (between Calculations and Recipients) lists your settled calculations across all policies — the per-charge record of what was actually paid — with each row linking to its receipt. You can filter by policy or by agreement.

This is different from the Settlements sub-tab on a policy or agreement detail page, which shows the underlying wallet transactions for that specific policy or agreement.

The Settlements tab is only available for Wallet live agreements. It is hidden for External money flow.

Download a receipt

Each row in the Settlements tab has a Generate receipt button. Click it to open the transaction receipt as a PDF in a new tab.

On the Calculations tab, settled wallet-paid rows show a receipt icon. Click it to open a summary of the linked wallet transaction and download the receipt.

View recipient payments

  1. In Monta Hub, go to Finance > Revenue share.
  2. Select the Recipients tab.
  3. Select a recipient account to see a summary of the revenue share they have received: a per-month total and a list of individual entries showing the date, source agreement, gross amount, share, and status.

Restrictions

Revenue share agreements are subject to the following requirements:

Same country accounts — the operator, source, and recipient accounts must all be registered in the same country. Cross-border agreements are not supported.

No duplicate agreements — you cannot create two agreements for the same source → recipient pair under the same policy.

Revenue share and subscriptions

Revenue share is a standalone feature designed to replace common workarounds — such as zero-fee or low-fee subscription plans set up solely to route charge revenue to a site owner. There are no plans to remove subscription plans; you can continue using them and migrate customers to revenue share at your own pace.
