How do I export open data for my charge points?

This article explains the UK Public Charge Point Regulations 2023 open data requirement and shows how to export compliant charge point data from Monta Hub.

For: Charge Point Operators (CPOs) operating public charge points in the UK

The Public Charge Point Regulations 2023 introduced a mandatory open data requirement for CPOs in the UK. The regulation requires essential information about public charge points — such as location, status, and pricing — to be made openly accessible, improving transparency and supporting EV driver decision-making.

What is included in the open data export?

Open data can be exported per team or per operator.

The regulation requires CPOs to report on 49 fields of data, separated between Location (table 9), EVSE (table 10), and Connector (table 11). The Monta open data export currently covers 40 of the 49 fields.

The following 9 fields must be filled in manually after exporting the file:

parking_type ParkingType The general type of parking at the charge point location. Must be filled in manually. Coming soon as a field in Monta Hub.
directions DisplayText Human-readable directions on how to reach the location. Must be filled in manually.
facilities Facility Optional list of facilities at the charging location. Must be filled in manually. Coming soon as a field in Monta Hub.
images Image Links to images related to the location. Must be filled in manually.
time_zone string The time zone of the charging location. Must be filled in manually.
opening_times Hours The hours the charge point is available. Must be filled in manually.
energy_mix EnergyMix Details of the energy supplied at the charge point. Must be filled in manually.
floor_level string Level on which the EVSE is located. Must be filled in manually.

How do I export open data?

  1. Log in to Monta Hub.
  2. Navigate to Charge Points.
  3. Select Open Data.
  4. Choose to export per team or per operator.
  5. Download the file and fill in the 9 fields that require manual input before publishing.
