How do I enable roaming on a charge point?
Share your charge points with other EV charging networks by enabling roaming via Monta Hub. Covers creating and applying roaming price groups, additional fees, and private roaming for home users.
Roaming is the industry term for sharing your charge points with other networks. Monta shares charge points on networks such as Hubject and Gireve, and has direct agreements with partners like Plugsurfing. When a user charges on a Monta charge point through another app, this is called a roaming charge.
Roaming is only available on the Business and Enterprise plans.

Private roaming for home users
Private roaming is currently in beta and must be enabled by Monta on request. Availability and behavior may change as the feature matures.
What is private roaming?
Private roaming allows home and private teams to open their charge points to external roaming partners (for example, RFID cards or charge keys from other networks) without publishing the location on public maps.
With private roaming:
- Show charger on map is disabled.
- The address and precise coordinates are anonymized before being shared via OCPI (Open Charge Point Interface).
- Location data is broadcast in a masked form to roaming partners such as Hubject and direct OCPI connections.
Roaming partners can authorize and start charging sessions, but the charge point does not appear on public maps and the exact address is never disclosed.
Why use private roaming?
Multi-income households where more than one person needs employer reimbursement for charging can enable private roaming on a shared home charge point. RFID cards from the employer's network can be used to start and authenticate sessions, while the home address remains private. Roaming price groups define the reimbursement rate — fully compatible with Hubject and other OCPI networks.
Note: In certain countries (for example, Belgium), it is illegal to profit from reimbursed charging. In these cases, the price must be set to the reimbursement tariff. A legal disclaimer will be shown to the user.
How do I enable private roaming?
Prerequisite: Private roaming must be enabled for your Operator by Monta. Contact Monta support or your Operator to request activation.
- In the charge point Pricing & Access settings, set the charge point to Public. This makes the charge point eligible for roaming connections.
- Scroll down and disable Show charger on map. This ensures the address and location are anonymized before being broadcast.
- Enable roaming on the charge point using the standard roaming setup flow.
- Create a roaming price group and define the price that roaming partners will see and transact on.
How does the charge point appear to roaming partners?
- The charge point is available for roaming authorization and pricing via OCPI.
- The precise address and coordinates are masked.
- Partners see an anonymized location that supports session start, without exposing the private address.
