How do I add my odometer reading for a reimbursement charge?

Help Center / Monta Charge / Home charging / Reimbursements / How do I add my odometer reading for a reimbursement charge?

For: drivers using the Monta app whose employer reimburses their charging.

If your employer reimburses you for charging, they may ask you to record your odometer reading (and sometimes to select a specific vehicle) so each charge can be verified for reimbursement. The Monta app guides you through this — here's what to expect.

Entering your odometer at the start of a charge

On a charge point set up for reimbursement, if your employer requires an odometer reading, the app asks for it before the charge starts:

  1. Start the charge as usual.
  2. A screen appears asking for your current odometer reading (in km). It's pre-filled with your last reading — update it to the current value.
  3. Confirm to continue. The charge then starts.

If you close this screen without entering a reading, the charge won't start — the reading is required by your employer.

Adding or updating the reading during or after a charge

You can also record the odometer on a charge that's already running or finished:

  • Open the charge session screen (or the charge summary after it ends).
  • Select the odometer entry and enter your reading.

Each reading is saved to that charge; it's pre-filled from your last-known value to save typing.

Choosing your reimbursed vehicle

Your employer may also want to know which vehicle you charged:

  1. Open the sponsorship (reimbursement) details in the app.
  2. Tap Reimbursed vehicle and pick the vehicle you're charging.

This only sets the vehicle used for reimbursement — it doesn't change your default charging vehicle.

If your employer requires a connected vehicle, any vehicle without an integration shows "Needs integration" and can't be selected. Connect that vehicle to Monta first, then pick it here.

Why Monta asks for this

Odometer readings and the selected vehicle let your employer confirm that a reimbursed charge really belongs to the right vehicle and matches your driving — so reimbursements can be approved with confidence. Your readings are only used for that verification.

Tips

  • Enter the odometer in kilometres.
  • The field is pre-filled from your last reading — just update it.
  • Make sure you're on the latest version of the Monta app. This is rolling out gradually and may not be available to everyone yet.
