For: EV drivers in eligible countries who charge at home and want to claim a tax refund through a third-party provider via Monta Charge.

Monta is not a tax refund provider. Monta is the platform that enables our partners (tax refund providers) to track the kWh charged on your charge point and issue your tax refund. The contract for tax refund is with the service provider, not Monta.

Before subscribing to a tax refund provider, you need to connect your charge point. The subscription fee is paid from your Monta Wallet — not your bank account — and is deducted automatically once your application is approved. Tax refunds are also paid into your Monta Wallet, from which you can pay for charging or withdraw to your bank account.

You can cancel at any time, but note that tax refund providers have their own cancellation policies.

Note: If you supply your electricity via solar panels, you are not eligible for a tax refund. You must be connected to an electrical supply with a meter that measures how many kWh you have charged.

How do I apply for a tax refund subscription?

  1. Under navigation Chargers, select the Chargers tab.
  2. Click the settings wheel of your charge point.
  3. Scroll down and select Charge point subscriptions.
  4. Sort and select a subscription.
    • You can sort by price or popularity.
  5. Open the subscription:
    • Click Read more to see details about the provided services.
    • Read and accept the Terms & Conditions.
  6. Click Subscribe.
  7. If a contract is available through Monta Charge, sign it.
  8. Wait for the subscription to be approved by the tax refund provider.
    • Once you apply, your subscription goes to Pending until it is Approved. Approval may take a few hours or a few days. Some applications are held pending if documentation is missing or incorrect.

How do I view my tax refund subscription?

  1. Under navigation Chargers, select the Chargers tab.
  2. Click the settings wheel of the charge point.
  3. Select Charge point subscriptions.
  4. Under My subscriptions, select the subscription to open it.

How do I view my tax refund history?

In Monta Charge you can see the tax refunds you have received and the meter readings of your charge point. Click the Show me dropdown and select Tax refunds or Meter readings.

Meter readings

If your charge point supports automatic meter readings, tax refunds arrive automatically after each charge — no action required.

If your charge point does not support automatic meter readings, you need to perform manual meter readings. Not every charge point requiring manual readings is eligible for a tax refund subscription — this depends on where the meter is located.

How do I upload a manual meter reading?

  1. Click Add reading.
  2. Take a photo of your charge point's meter.
    • Avoid using flash, as it may reflect on the glass and make the numbers hard to read.
    • Make sure it is a photo of the charge point meter, not a house electricity meter.
  3. Type in the kWh value.
  4. Click Submit.
  5. Wait for your tax refund provider to review and approve the reading.

How do I cancel my tax refund subscription?

  • If you see a Cancel button, you can cancel the subscription directly in Monta Charge.
  • If no cancel button is shown, you need to contact the service provider to cancel.

How do I find my service provider's contact information?

Click Read more on your subscription and scroll down to Provider info.
