The challenge
As EV adoption accelerated, Norlys found that its existing EV charging platform could no longer meet customer expectations. Drivers were demanding advanced features, seamless platform integration, and transparent billing. Without these capabilities, Norlys risked losing ground to more agile competitors.
In search of a solution, Norlys explored the charge point management system (CPMS) market – and consistently heard one name recommended by customers: Monta.
Why Norlys chose Monta
1. A collaborative and flexible partnership
Norlys didn’t just need a supplier – they needed a committed partner who could evolve with them. Monta demonstrated a willingness to work hand-in-hand with Norlys, incorporating their feedback directly into the product roadmap and helping ensure their EV charging offering stayed competitive as the market evolved.
3. A full white-label experience
To reinforce brand trust and provide a unified customer experience, Norlys leveraged Monta’s fully white-labeled app – branded as Norlys Charging. This ensured a unified customer experience under the Norlys brand while leveraging Monta’s full feature suite.
2. Advanced features and seamless integration
Monta offered the home charging features Norlys customers were asking for, and critically, the platform could integrate directly with Norlys’ existing infrastructure. This simplified operations and created a scalable foundation for growth.
The results
By choosing Monta over an in-house build, Norlys saved years of internal development time. This enabled them to launch advanced EV charging capabilities quickly – without compromising quality or innovation.
In doing so, Norlys has successfully sustained growth in the EV charging sector, retained its core customer base, and maintained focus on its core energy business.
Some of the key partnership highlights include:
Integration success: transparent billing
Norlys is utilising Monta’s partner API services to enhance their offering and improve the customer experience. One example of this in action; Norlys wanted their customers to see exactly how much electricity went into EV charging – directly on their monthly bill. By integrating Monta’s Partner API, Norlys was able to pull precise charging data into its existing billing system. This eliminated the need to build a billing engine from scratch, and ensured that bills were accurate, transparent and easy for customers to understand.
Shaping the product roadmap
Norlys is actively influencing the product roadmap to ensure it remains aligned with their evolving needs. For instance, Norlys handles most customer support queries in-house and therefore needed the ability to separate first and second-line support roles. Monta’s product team worked with Norlys to implement a solution: role segmentation. This resulted in Norlys having better control over platform access and improved internal support efficiency.
White-label solution
Norlys white-labelled the Monta Charge app under the name Norlys Charging, achieving cohesive branding and full customer ownership while benefiting from all the features and ongoing improvements of the Monta platform.
Rather than integrating EV charging into their award-winning energy app – which would have delayed launch and risked customer churn – Norlys chose to partner with Monta. The Monta white-label app provided advanced features out of the box, enabling faster time to market. Keeping the EV app separate also ensured traditional energy customers weren’t overwhelmed with features irrelevant to their needs.
“Partnering with Monta and utilising their flexible solutions, such as the Partner API and white-label app, enabled us to quickly meet our customers’ EV charging needs.”

Through smart integration, co-development, and a brand-first mindset, Norlys continues to lead Denmark’s energy transition – while keeping customer satisfaction at the core.
