How to set site opening hours in Monta, what drivers and roaming partners see, and why opening hours don't block charging.
Opening hours tell drivers when your site is open and share that with roaming networks. This article explains where to set them, what they do, and one thing they deliberately do not do.
Where opening hours live
Opening hours are set per site, not per individual charge point. Every charge point on a site follows its site's opening hours. If you don't set any, the site is treated as open 24/7.
You set them in Monta Hub on the site, under its opening-hours settings.
What you can configure
- Open 24/7: the site is always open, and no hours are shown.
- Regular weekly hours: an open window per weekday (for example Mon to Fri 08:00 to 22:00). You can add more than one window in a day.
- Exceptional dates: one-off openings or closings for specific dates (for example a public holiday closure), which override the regular weekly pattern for those dates.
Open and closed status is calculated in your operator timezone.
What opening hours do
- Show drivers an open or closed status in the Monta app and on the map, along with the next relevant time (for example "Closes 22:00 today" or "Opens 08:00 tomorrow").
- Are published to roaming networks over OCPI, so partner apps can display when your site is open.
Important: opening hours do not stop charging
Opening hours are informational. They do not switch charging on or off. A driver can still start a charge at a site that is shown as closed, whether they use the Monta app, an ad-hoc QR payment, an RFID key, or Auto Charge. Setting opening hours changes what drivers see, not whether energy can flow.

If you need to actually prevent charging at certain times, opening hours are not the tool for it. Deactivate the charge point, or use your access and pricing controls instead.
Frequently asked questions
If I mark my site closed at night, will charging stop at night? No. The site will show as closed, but drivers can still charge. Opening hours are display and roaming information only.
Can I set different hours for individual charge points on the same site? No. Opening hours apply to the whole site, so every charge point on it follows the same hours.
I didn't set any hours. What happens? The site is treated as open 24/7 and shown as always open.
Which timezone is used? Your operator timezone. Keep that in mind for roaming drivers in other regions, whose local time may differ from the displayed status.
