How do I use SmartQueue?

SmartQueue lets you queue for a charge point that is currently in use. If the charge point owner has enabled this feature, you can join a virtual queue and get notified when it is your turn.

How the queue works

When a SmartQueue charge point is busy, you can join a virtual line instead of waiting by the charger. Everyone charges in order: you get a position in the queue and an estimated time until your turn, based on how many people are ahead of you and how long they are likely to charge.

You do not have to stay by the charge point. When it is your turn, Monta Charge sends you a notification, and you have a short window to start before your turn passes to the next person. You can be in one queue per site at a time, and you can leave the queue whenever you want.

How do I find SmartQueue charge points?

Use the Monta map filters to find charge points that have SmartQueue activated. Open the Map tab and apply the availability filter to show SmartQueue-enabled charge points.

How do I use SmartQueue?

1. Open the charge point on the map.
2. Tap Join Queue.
3. Wait until it is your turn — you will receive a notification in Monta Charge.
4. Tap Open to see your charging options.
   • You have 15 minutes to start charging before your turn expires.
   • Tap Skip turn if you are not ready and want to give your turn to the next person in line.
   • Tap Leave queue if you no longer wish to charge.
5. Adjust your charging preferences:
   • Select the car you want to charge (optional).
   • Select the charging amount.
6. Tap Go to payment.
7. Select a payment method.
8. Swipe to start charging.

What does SmartQueue cost?

There is no fee to sit in the queue. You only pay for the energy you use once you start charging, at the charge point's normal price.

Good to know

• You can be in one queue per site at a time.
• When it is your turn you have 15 minutes to start charging, or your turn passes to the next person in line.
• You can skip your turn up to 3 times. After that you are removed from the queue and need to join again.
• Keep push notifications turned on for Monta Charge so you do not miss your turn.

How operators enable SmartQueue

SmartQueue is switched on by the charge point operator in Monta Hub, not in the app. It is enabled per location, in the location's EVSE / configuration settings — open the location, go to its configuration and turn on SmartQueue. Once enabled, the charge points at that location offer queueing to drivers.
