How do I brand Monta with my own theme (colours, logo, favicon)?

Help Center / Monta Hub / Admin & Settings / How do I brand Monta with my own theme (colours, logo, favicon)?

For: operators using Monta Hub.

A theme puts your brand on the charging experience — your colours, logos and favicon replace the default Monta look for your drivers, and optionally in Monta Hub. You can create more than one theme and choose which is the default.

Where to find it

  1. In Monta Hub, open your operator settings.
  2. Select the Themes tab.

What you can customise (and where it shows)

You set colours and logos separately for the driver app and for Monta Hub — or tick "use the same" to apply one set to both.

  • Primary colour — your main brand colour, used for buttons, links and highlights. In the driver app it colours the key actions; in Monta Hub it sets the accent colour (and, if you turn on sidebar theming below, the sidebar too).
  • Secondary colour — a supporting colour used mainly in the driver-facing experience.
  • Primary logo — your main logo. It appears in the driver app, on your public charge point pages, and in the Hub sidebar.
  • Contrast logo — a version of your logo for light backgrounds, used on driver-facing pages (such as deeplink and sign-in pages) where your primary logo wouldn't stand out. The Hub sidebar always uses the primary logo.
  • Hub favicon — the small icon in the browser tab when using Monta Hub. This is required.
  • Sidebar theming — choose whether your primary colour also styles the Hub sidebar, or leave the sidebar in the standard look (your accent colour still applies elsewhere in Hub either way).

Create a theme

  1. On the Themes tab, select Create theme.
  2. Give it a name and set your colours.
  3. Upload your logos (primary and, if needed, the contrast logo).
  4. Upload your Hub favicon — you can't finish without it.
  5. Save. To make a theme the one that's used, mark it as the default.

You can edit a theme at any time from the same tab.

Where your theme applies

The theme you set up on the Themes tab is your operator default — the brand used across everything you operate, including on your own custom (white-label) domain. You can create more than one theme and choose which one is the default.

Themes can also be applied more specifically — for example a different theme for an individual account or a sub-operator. That per-account setup isn’t changed from the Themes tab today; if you need it, arrange it with Monta.

When a driver uses a charger, they see the most specific theme that applies: an account-specific theme if one has been set, otherwise your operator default, and otherwise the standard Monta look.

Where your branding appears

  • The Monta driver app and your public charge point pages — your app colours and logo.
  • Deeplink and sign-in pages your drivers see — using the contrast logo where needed.
  • Monta Hub — the favicon always, and the sidebar and colours when you've turned on sidebar theming.
  • On your own custom (white-label) domain, your theme is always applied automatically.

Sub-operators

If you have sub-operators, a sub-operator that hasn't set up its own theme automatically uses its parent operator's logo, favicon and colours — so your brand carries through without configuring each one. A sub-operator with its own theme keeps that instead.

Good to know

  • Colours are set as hex values; the primary app colour is required.
  • The Hub favicon is required to create a theme.
  • The Hub sidebar always shows your primary logo (not the contrast logo).
