Create a sandbox sub-account in Monta Hub — a separate, all-features-on environment where you can safely try things out, kept apart from your production account.
A sandbox is a special kind of sub-account you can create to experiment in — try out features, test a setup, or run a demo — without affecting your real, production account. It comes with all features switched on, and its charge points are kept separate from live roaming.
This is a newer option and may not be available to every operator yet.
What a sandbox is (and isn't)
- It's a sub-account of your organisation, created just like any other sub-account but marked as a sandbox.
- It has the full feature set enabled, so you can explore capabilities your main account may not have turned on.
- Its charge points are excluded from public roaming, so test setups never appear to real drivers.
- It's meant for experimentation, not production — don't run real customers or real charging revenue through it.
Create a sandbox sub-account
- In Monta Hub, go to Admin → Settings → Sub accounts and select New.
- Turn on the Sandbox option during creation.
- Finish creating the account. Your new sandbox appears in your list of accounts, marked as a sandbox so you can tell it apart from your production sub-accounts and any trials.
Working in the sandbox
- Switch into it the same way you switch between any operator accounts, and switch back to your main account when you're done.
- Anything you set up inside the sandbox stays inside it — it doesn't affect your production account.
Good to know
- A sandbox stays available for you to use — it isn't automatically deleted on a timer.
- Because it's for testing, avoid using it for anything you need to keep long-term or bill against.
- If you need a sandbox removed, contact Monta support rather than deleting production data.
Cost and fair usage
Sandboxes are generally free to use — they exist so you can explore Monta without commercial commitment. In return we ask that they’re used reasonably:
- Fair usage — a sandbox is for testing, evaluation and demos, not for running real charging operations or production traffic. Excessive or abusive use may be limited.
- Not for real revenue — because a sandbox has all features on and sits outside normal billing, it shouldn’t be used to process genuine customer charging or payments.
- Fraudulent activity — if a sandbox is misused for fraudulent activity, the operator that created it is responsible for any resulting costs or liability.
