How do I use Lists in Hub?

For: operators using Monta Hub.

A list is a named, reusable set of one kind of item: users, accounts, EVSEs, locations and more. You build it once and then use it across Hub, for example to filter the Network table, apply a price group, restrict a promotion code or choose who receives a message.

Where do I find Lists?

In Hub, go to Operations > Lists.

Creating, editing and deleting lists requires the Admin or Operations manager role. Other operator roles can view lists but can't change them.

What can a list hold?

Each list holds one type of item. You choose the type when you create the list.

Manual lists, watch lists and Dynamic lists

When you create a list, you choose its List source:

• Manual: you add and remove items yourself. The list only changes when you change it.
• Dynamic: membership comes from rules you set, for example every DC EVSE in Denmark above 50 kW. Monta keeps the list up to date as your network changes. Available for EVSEs, Public network EVSEs and Charging stations.

A watch list is a manual list with Remove items automatically turned on. Each item drops off by itself a set time after it was added (1, 7, 14, 30 or 90 days). Use it when you want to keep an eye on something for a while without having to remember to take it off again, for example EVSEs that were just repaired, or accounts in their first month.

Start from a template

The Lists page opens with Start from a template: ready-made list ideas that open the create wizard with everything filled in. You can change any field before you create the list.

Click Hide templates to hide the section. A Templates button next to New brings it back. Hub remembers your choice.

How do I create a list?

1. Go to Operations > Lists and click New, or pick a template.
2. Details: enter a name and an optional description, and choose the Type.
3. Choose the List source: Manual or Dynamic.
4. For a watch list, turn on Remove items automatically and choose how long items stay.
5. For a Dynamic list, two more steps follow:
   • Filter: add rules one at a time, for example "Countries is one of Denmark". All rules must match. The number of matching items updates as you edit.
   • Sync: choose Review changes first (Monta proposes additions and removals for you to approve) or Apply automatically.
6. Click Create.

A new Dynamic list is empty until its first sync has run. With Review changes first, you also need to approve the proposed additions.

How do I add items to a list?

From the list: open the list, click Add, select the items and click Add. On a manual list you can choose Remove items after to make the items drop off by themselves. On a watch list, this is set to the list's own lifetime.

From anywhere in Hub: select one or more rows in a table, for example EVSEs on the Network page, and click Add to lists in the action bar. The same action is on an item's detail page. Pick one or more lists, or click Create new list. Only lists of the right type are shown.

Remove items after defaults to List's default: a watch list applies its own lifetime (shown next to it, for example "Removed after 14 days"), and other lists keep the items permanently. Pick Never or a number of days to override it for the manual lists you selected. Adding an item that's already on a list does nothing, so it's safe to repeat.

How do I see and change when items expire?

On a manual list, the Expires column shows when each item drops off, for example "in 14 days". Items that expire within 24 hours are highlighted. Hover to see the exact time.

To change it, select one or more items and choose Change expiry. Pick a new number of days (counted from now) or Keep permanently.

To turn a list into a watch list, or change how long items stay, open the list's settings and use Remove items automatically. The change only applies to items added afterwards. Items already on the list keep their expiry.

Dynamic lists don't have expiry, because the next sync would add a matching item straight back.

Filter tables by a list

You can narrow a table to the members of a list. Add the List filter and pick a list:

The List filter works together with your other filters. The selected list is kept in the page address, so you can bookmark or share the filtered view.

Where else can I use a list?

• Price groups: apply a price group to all EVSEs or accounts in a list at once. See Apply a price group to accounts, lists and more.
• Promotion codes: restrict which EVSEs a discount or voucher applies to. See How do I manage promotion codes in Monta Hub?.
• Charging subscription discounts: choose which accounts, EVSEs or locations qualify for a discount in a subscription plan. See Create a subscription plan — Example 2.
• Outreach: choose which users or accounts receive a message. See How do I send messages to users in Monta Hub?.

Public network EVSE lists can't be used for price groups or promotion codes, because those only apply to your own network.

Keep a Dynamic list in sync

A Dynamic list's page has four tabs: Members, Proposals, Excluded and Filter.

• Sync: Monta compares the rules with your network and works out what to add and remove. Click Sync now to run it straight away. History shows past syncs: status, trigger (Automatic or Manual), start time, number matched and result.
• See what changed: click a sync's result, for example "+3 / −12", to see exactly which items were added, removed or proposed. Download CSV exports the full set.
• Proposals: with Review changes first, changes wait here. Approve or reject them one by one, in a selection, or all at once. Rejecting an addition excludes the item, so it isn't proposed again. Rejecting a removal keeps the item on the list even though it no longer matches.
• Excluded: items you've kept off the list. You can remove an exclusion here.
• Sync mode: switch between Review changes first and Apply automatically in the sync bar at any time.

Changing the rules on the Filter tab doesn't change the list immediately. It changes what the next sync proposes or applies.

What can I change after creating a list?

• Name and description: any time, in the list's settings.
• Remove items automatically: any time, on manual lists.
• Rules and sync mode: any time, on Dynamic lists.
• List source: can't be changed. To switch between Manual and Dynamic, create a new list.
• Type: use Change entity type in the list's settings. This removes every item on the list, including its proposals, exclusions and sync history, and a Dynamic list becomes a manual list. It isn't possible while the list is used somewhere, for example by a promotion code or a message.
• Delete: in the list's settings.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see who added an item?
Yes. The Added by column shows the person, or Automatic sync for items added by a Dynamic list. There is no log of who changed a Dynamic list's rules.

Why don't I see Lists in Hub?
Lists is only shown to roles with access to it. Ask an Admin on your operator.

Why can't I choose Dynamic?
Dynamic lists are only available for EVSEs, Public network EVSEs and Charging stations. If you don't see the option for those types either, Dynamic lists aren't enabled for your operator yet. Contact Monta Support.

Can I use my lists through the API?
Yes. Lists are available in the Monta Partner API, and items added through the API follow a watch list's lifetime in the same way.
