Set a default State-of-Charge (SoC) cap on a charge point so charges stop at a chosen percentage — apply it to one charge point, in bulk, or vary it by schedule.
A default charge limit lets you cap charging at a chosen State of Charge (SoC) — for example, stop every charge at 80%. Set it once on a charge point and every charge that starts there without its own limit will stop at that percentage. You can set a value from 1–100%, or leave it empty for no cap.
This feature is rolling out gradually and may not be available to every operator yet.
Set a default charge limit on a charge point
- Open the charge point and go to the Details tab.
- Find Default charge limit (%) and enter a value from 1 to 100.
- Save. New charges on this charge point that don't have their own limit will now stop at that percentage.
To remove the cap, clear the field and save.
Set it for many charge points at once
- Go to your charge points list.
- Use the column selector to show Default SoC limit, so you can see the current value per charge point.
- Use bulk edit to set the default charge limit across the selected charge points in one go.
Vary the limit by schedule
If you use schedules, you can set a different default charge limit for specific time windows:
- Create or edit a schedule for the team.
- Set a default charge limit for the whole schedule, and/or a different value on individual time windows.
- Save — during each window, charges inherit that window's limit.
How it behaves
- The lower limit applies. If both a charge point default and a driver’s own limit are set for a charge, charging stops at whichever is lower. For example, if the default is 80% and the driver sets 90%, the charge stops at 80%; if the driver sets 70%, it stops at 70%. The charge point default only applies on its own when the charge starts with no limit from the driver.
- Leaving the field empty means no cap from the charge point.
- Changing the default affects new charges going forward; it doesn't change charges already in progress.
