How do I use OCPP Proxy?

OCPP Proxy (Open Charge Point Protocol Proxy) lets you route your charging stations' OCPP traffic through Monta to any backend system. Use it to migrate chargers to a new backend, run multiple backends at the same time, or test a new system without affecting your live network.

Help Center / Monta Hub / Charge Points / Connect & Configure / How do I use OCPP Proxy?

OCPP Proxy (Open Charge Point Protocol Proxy) lets you route your charging stations' OCPP traffic through Monta to any backend system. Use it to migrate chargers to a new backend, run multiple backends at the same time, or test a new system without affecting your live network.

How do I access OCPP Proxy?

In Monta Hub, select Operations > OCPP Proxy.

If OCPP Proxy does not appear in your navigation, contact your Monta account manager to enable it for your operator account.

How do I create a proxy domain?

A proxy domain is the connection point your charging stations attach to. Chargers connecting to the domain's Connection URL are then forwarded to the backend you specify.

  1. Select Operations > OCPP Proxy.
  2. Click Create new domain.
  3. Enter a Name — a readable label for this domain.
  4. Enter an Identifier — use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only (no spaces or special characters).
  5. Enter the OCPP URL of the backend you want to route traffic to. The URL must start with ws:// or wss://.
  6. Click Create.

After the domain is created, a Connection URL appears under Connect your chargers. Point your charging stations to this URL.

How do I add destination groups?

Destination groups let you split traffic within a proxy domain across multiple backends. Each group has its own target OCPP URL. New charging stations land in the Default group first — reassign them at any time.

  1. Open a proxy domain from the Proxy Domains list.
  2. Click Add destination group.
  3. Enter a Name and the backend's OCPP URL.
  4. Click Create.

How do I move charging stations between destination groups?

  1. On the proxy domain page, select the charging stations you want to transfer. You can:
    • Select individual rows
    • Select all charging stations
    • Paste a list of charging station IDs — one per line or comma-separated
  2. Click Transfer.
  3. Select the target destination group.
  4. To reconnect the charging stations immediately, turn on Restart charging stations after transfer.
  5. Click Transfer to confirm.

Note: Restarting a charging station while a session is active stops that session.

How do I monitor connections?

The Proxy Domains page shows each proxy domain and its live connection summary. Open a domain to see each charging station's Identity, Status (Online or Offline), last connected time, and current destination group.

How do I export charging station data?

On a proxy domain page, click Export charging stations CSV to download the current list. Use the search filter to narrow by destination group before exporting — the URL updates automatically and can be saved as a bookmark.
