A step-by-step guide to setting up and operating public charge points with Monta as a Charge Point Operator.

This guide walks you through everything you need to do to operate public charge points with Monta as a Charge Point Operator (CPO).

Step 1: Set up your operator account

  1. Go to Monta Hub and create an operator account.
  2. Complete operator verification (business details, payment information).
  3. Configure your operator profile under Account settings.

Step 2: Connect your charge points

  1. Go to Charge pointsAdd charge point.
  2. Enter the charge point details and connect via OCPP.
  3. Follow the integration guide for your charge point brand.
  4. Create a Charging site to group charge points by location.

Step 3: Configure pricing and access

  1. Go to a charge point → Pricing & access.
  2. Set the access type to Public.
  3. Configure your pricing model (fixed, dynamic, or price group).

Step 4: Enable roaming

  1. Register for an Operator ID with your national roaming hub.
  2. Add your Operator ID in Account settings → Roaming.
  3. Enable roaming on each charge point under Pricing & access.

Step 5: Set up reporting and compliance

  1. Configure AFIR reporting if your charge points are in an EU country.
  2. Set up any required third-party data publishing (meter readings, open data).
  3. Create alerts for offline charge points.

Step 6: Monitor performance

  1. Use Charge point statistics to track sessions and energy delivered.
  2. Export Uptime reports to monitor availability.
  3. Set up Alerts to be notified when a charge point goes offline.
