Solar + Grid or Solar Only
Solar + Grid mode tops up from the grid if solar production falls below the 6A minimum threshold, ensuring charging continues even when the sun dips behind clouds. Recommended for smaller arrays under 6 kW. Solar Only mode charges exclusively when surplus meets the threshold, pausing when the sun goes down and resuming when it returns. Recommended for larger arrays over 6 kW where you want 100% solar-powered charging.
Three ways to integrate Solar charging
Meter Integration
Uses smart meter readers to measure both household consumption and solar production in real time. The system adjusts EV charging so that solar production minus household consumption equals EV charging power, steering your home toward net-zero grid consumption. Supported devices include Saveeye+, Powerfox, Stromleser, and charger-connected CT clamps.
Inverter
Connects directly to your solar inverter to read live production and household consumption. The system adjusts EV charging to match your available solar surplus, maximizing self-consumption with no additional metering hardware. Works with compatible inverters.
Forecast-Based
Uses weather data and your panel specifications (peak output, tilt angle, orientation) to predict solar output. No additional hardware required. Slightly lower accuracy than meter or inverter methods, but perfect for getting started with no upfront investment.
