Dinge wie Flotte, Fahrzeuge und Roaming sind Features you turn on for an account, not separate account types. This article explains each type and how to choose the right one.

Account types overview

Personal

A Personal account is created automatically for every individual when they sign up. Each person has exactly one, and it's a system type — it can't be created, changed to another type, or deleted, by the driver or by an operator. It represents the relationship between an individual driver and Monta directly, giving them a personal wallet to pay for charging, receive refunds, and manage payments. Operators can't see a Personal account's transactions.

Use this for: an individual driver charging at home or on the go — no setup needed, this is the default every driver starts with.

Private

A Private account is created by an operator to offer charging services to individual EV drivers. The operator manages the account and its charge points, while each driver gets access to charging. It represents the relationship between the driver and your operator. Depending on your agreement, charge points added to a Private account may not be eligible for revenue.

Use this for: offering managed charging to individual private drivers — for example, home chargers you administer on their behalf.

Professional

A Professional account is the standard type for business customers — housing associations, hotels, parking garages, and similar — who want to manage their charge points or EV fleet, set specific charging prices, and manage members. It lets you manage members, charge points, pricing, and subscriptions in one place, receive invoices, and generate revenue from charging.

Verwende dies für: Laden für Mitarbeiter, kundenorientierte Ladenetzwerke, Mehrfamilienhäuser, Eigentumswohnungen und Wohnanlagen.

Funktionen, keine Kontotypen

Fähigkeiten wie Flotte, Fahrzeuge, Roaming, Lastmanagement, Erweiterte Mitglieder, und Erstattetes Laden sind Feature-Toggles you turn on for a Private or Professional account — they are not account types of their own. You choose which ones to enable when you create the account, or turn them on or off later from the account's settings. If you've used Monta Hub for a while, you may remember names like "Fleet operations Team" or "Operator Team" — these are not separate account types anymore, just features (or a setting, in the case of Operator account — see below) on a regular account.

For the full list of feature toggles and how to manage them, see Account features.

The Operator account setting

Operator account is a setting on an account — not a separate account type. Note that "Operator account" is used for two different things in Monta Hub, so don't confuse them:

  • The operator organization that owns all of your accounts — this is your tenant/business, accessed via "Switch operator account," and it does not appear in your Accounts list.
  • The Operator account toggle on an individual account — turning this on makes that account one the operator manages itself: its charging revenue flows directly into the operator's wallet instead of being settled with a separate customer, and it inherits the operator's pricing.

Use the toggle when you want to collect all revenue from a location you own — for example, to help cover your operating costs. Turn it on from the account's settings, under Account invitation settings.

How to choose

  • An individual charging at home or on the go? A Personal account is created for you automatically — no setup needed.
  • An operator offering managed charging to individual private drivers? Use a Private account.
  • Running a business with employees or customers, or managing a multi-residential building, condos, or an apartment complex? Use a Professional account.
  • Need Fleet, Vehicles, Roaming, Load balancing, Advanced members, or Reimbursed charging? Turn on the relevant feature for your Private or Professional account — see Account features.
  • Want the revenue from a location you own to flow into your operator wallet? Enable the Operator account setting on that account.

You can switch an existing account between Private and Professional later (Personal accounts can't change type). Ready to create your first account? See Create an account.
