Send a feature request, see how Monta reviews it, and vote on and follow requests on the Feature requests board.
For: Operator users in Monta Hub
Feature requests let you tell Monta what you need, see what other operators have asked for, and vote for the ideas that matter most to you. Monta reviews every request, and the ones that apply to many customers are published on a board in Hub where everyone can vote and follow them.
How it works
- You send a feature request from the Helpdesk, explaining why you need it, what you need and by when.
- Monta reviews it. Monta's product team reads every request and either adds it to an existing request on the board or creates a new one.
- Some requests are published to the board. Monta rewrites the request so it reads clearly for every customer, and publishes it under What's New → Feature requests.
- Operators vote and follow. Everyone can vote for published requests. The more operators back a request, the more weight it carries when Monta plans the roadmap.
- Monta posts updates as the request moves along, until it's shipped or not planned.
| What Monta does with your request | What you see |
|---|---|
| Adds it to an existing request | Your ticket closes and shows that request's status. Your request counts as backing for it. |
| Creates a new, published request | The request appears on the board for all operators to vote on. |
| Creates a new, private request | Only Monta and the operators who asked for it can see it. |
Your own ticket text is never shown to other operators. Every request on the board is written by Monta.
Send a feature request
- In Monta Hub, select Helpdesk in the sidebar, then New. You can also select Share feedback on any page.
- Select Feature request.
- Fill in the four required fields:
- Summary: the request in one line.
- Why: the business problem and its impact on you.
- What: the specific thing you're asking for.
- When: when you need it, and why then.
- Optionally add the Product area, the Impact and your Current workaround, then select Send.
Describe the problem you want solved and who it affects, not only the solution you have in mind. That helps Monta match your request with others asking for the same thing.
Browse and vote on feature requests
- In Monta Hub, go to What's New and open the Feature requests tab, next to Roadmap.
- Search by title, description or product area. The list is ranked by how many people back each request.
- Select the vote button on a request to back it. Select it again to take your vote back.
Each row shows the request's status, product area, Monta's latest update, how many operators back it and how many people voted.
The request page
Open a request to see its own page. You can share the link with colleagues. The page shows:

- The full description, written by Monta.
- Updates from Monta, newest first.
- Who backs it, in totals only: people, operators, votes per week over the last 12 weeks, and operators by country. Other operators' names are never shown.
- Vote and Follow buttons.
Follow a request
Voting follows a request automatically. You can also follow without voting. Followers get an email and a Hub inbox message when Monta posts an update and when the request is shipped or not planned. Taking your vote back keeps you following; select Unfollow to stop.
What each status means
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Received | Monta has the request and will review it. |
| In review | Monta is looking at whether and how to build it. |
| Planned | It's on Monta's roadmap. |
| In progress | Monta is building it. |
| Shipped | It's live. |
| Not planned | Monta won't build it, usually with an explanation. |
Good to know
- You can't post a request on the board directly. Send it through the Helpdesk and Monta adds it.
- Voting doesn't guarantee a request will be built or when. It tells Monta how many customers need it.
- Monta can hide a request from the board, for example when it's merged into another one.
- To report something that's broken, send a bug report instead. See How do I report a bug or request a feature in Monta Hub?
