Explains the access types available for charge points (public, private, mixed), authentication methods, and how to configure access.
Access control determines who can start a session on your charge points. This article explains your options.
Access types
Public
Anyone can start a session on the charge point using the Monta app or a payment terminal. No membership required.
Private (account-only)
Only members of your account can use the charge point. Members authenticate with the Monta app or a charge key.
Mixed (public + account)
Account members charge using account pricing. Non-members can charge at a public rate. Both can use the same charge point.
Authentication methods
Drivers can authenticate using:
- Monta app — scan or tap to start.
- Charge key (RFID) — registered key linked to a driver account.
- Autocharge — automatic session start based on the vehicle's MAC address.
- Payment terminal — card or contactless payment on compatible hardware.
