How do I apply a price group as the default for new account members?

Apply one of your global price groups as the default for new members on many accounts at once, from the Accounts list or from the price group, or set it on a single account.

Help Center / Monta Hub / Charge Points / Pricing & Access / How do I apply a price group as the default for new account members?

Apply one of your global price groups as the default for new members on many accounts at once, from the Accounts list or from the price group, or set it on a single account.

For: Charge point operators who manage accounts that people join with a join code, an invitation or an import.

Every account has a default price group for new members, and you can apply one of your global (operator) price groups as that default on many accounts at once. Everyone who joins the account later gets it: people you invite, people who join with the account's join code and people who are imported. Existing members keep the price group they have.

The default can be one of the account's own price groups or one of your operator price groups, the ones you manage centrally for all your accounts. You don't need a copy of the same price group on every account.

If an account has no default, new members get the account's first price group, or a "Default" price group that Monta creates automatically and that charges nothing. Set a default on every account that people can join.

Apply a price group as the default on many accounts

From the Accounts list

  1. In Hub, go to Accounts and select the accounts.
  2. In the bar at the bottom, select Set default price group.
  3. Pick one of your member price groups, check the summary, then select Set for n accounts.

Accounts in a different currency from the price group are skipped, and the dialog tells you how many. Accounts you selected under another filter are skipped too, because Hub can't check their currency.

From a global price group

  1. Go to Pricing & Growth → Price groups and open one of your member price groups.
  2. Select Apply to, then New members (account default).
  3. Add the accounts, then select Set for n accounts.

Existing members, the other option in the same dialog, moves the people who are already members. New members (account default) only decides what people who join later get.

Known issue: if nobody on an account uses the price group yet, the account's Price groups tab and the join code line may still say no default is set. The default is saved and new members get it. We're fixing the display.

Set the default on a single account

  1. Open the account and go to the Price groups tab.
  2. On the price group you want, open the actions menu (⋮) and select Set as default. Global price groups are marked Operator, and appear on the tab once they're in use on the account.

  1. Check the confirmation. It names the price group you're replacing, then select Set as default.

The price group now has the Default badge on the tab.

Check what new members get

Go to the account's Settings tab. Under Join code, Hub shows which price group new members get. If no default is set, it warns you and links to Set a default.

When an account setting decides

If the account uses an account setting (template) that has a default member price group, that price group wins: new members get it, whatever default you set on the account. The Price groups tab shows a banner when this is the case, and Set as default isn't offered on member price groups. To change what new members of those accounts get, change the member price group on the account setting instead.

Good to know

  • Existing members keep their price group. To move them, open the price group and use Apply to → Existing members.
  • You can use price groups that belong to the account's operator, or to its parent operator for a sub-operator's accounts. Price groups from another sub-operator can't be used.
  • A bulk change is all or nothing. If any account in the selection isn't allowed, nothing is changed. You can change up to 500 accounts at a time.
