Introduction

Based in France and growing rapidly, OZECAR specializes in providing EV charging solutions – primarily for the hospitality industry. As a Charge Point Operator (CPO), they currently manage 257 active charge points in the region, with plans to scale up to 1000 charge points by December 2025 (since partnering with Monta).

Their first expansion attempt slowed down when OZECAR began experiencing different operational challenges that affected their growth and customer satisfaction rates. While the challenges themselves were diverse – from unmet customer expectations to installation inefficiencies and financial management issues – their root cause was the same: limitations in OZECAR’s main software platform.

Since its inception, OZECAR has become well-known for delivering efficient and reliable EV charging services. They’ve always focused on being operationally efficient and guaranteeing customer satisfaction, which is why they took a proactive approach as soon as they started experiencing challenges in both areas. 

OZECAR works with many types of clients, but the majority (80%) of them are hotels that usually prefer a fully managed EV charging service. As OZECAR plans to further increase their charge point network, as well as satisfy the specific needs of their customers from the hospitality industry, they’ve begun to explore fleet management and other relevant possibilities as well. 

The challenge

When OZECAR first started scaling their business, they experienced new challenges in multiple areas. 

As they began adding new charging stations to their network, it soon became obvious that OZECAR’s previous software solution (Charge Cloud) could not cope with the volume, which led to more manual work, slow response times, and an overall difficulty in growing their operations.

Many of their new clients also lacked the understanding of EV charging operations, and expected a fully managed service from OZECAR, with little to no involvement from themselves. This caused frustration for both OZECAR and their clients – especially among end-users unfamiliar with EV technology.

There was also a strong manual element to different parts of OZECAR’s business processes: their installations usually required extensive coordination with their subcontractors, which then led to inconsistencies, several on-site visits for maintenance, and increased operational costs. In addition to this, their invoicing process was also highly manual and prone to errors, which in turn led to financial discrepancies and time-consuming corrections.
