Last month, Monta took part in MOVE America 2024 in Austin, Texas—the #1 tech mobility event in the Americas. It was our chance to connect with key industry players, share our experiences, and discuss the future of electric vehicle (EV) charging. Here’s a recap of the key highlights:
Key Highlights from MOVE America
1. Casper H Rasmussen’s Keynote
Our CEO, Casper H Rasmussen, shared Monta’s journey from 0 to 200,000 charge points across Europe. He focused on the lessons we’ve learned along the way—how we’ve worked with businesses to scale EV charging networks, overcome challenges, and create smooth experiences for drivers. For many in the audience, it was an eye-opener on what’s possible as the US gears up for widespread electrification.
2. Workshop on EV Charging Profitability
Our product team—represented by Jonathan Tari (Product Operations), and Directors of Product Denise Tan and Laura Moisset—led an engaging session on what it takes to run a profitable EV charging business. They touched on the operational side of things, sharing insights about managing costs, growing networks, and improving the user experience. It was a great chance for us to hear from MOVE attendees, too—there were some excellent questions, and we had thoughtful conversations about how Monta’s expertise could help address the unique challenges in the US market.

3. Panel on APIs and Data Sharing
Casper also took part in a panel discussion about the role of APIs and open data in mobility. The conversation explored how sharing data across different parts of the EV ecosystem (e.g.charging providers, utilities, and manufacturers) can create better outcomes for everyone. It reinforced something we strongly believe in at Monta: collaboration is key to making EV charging infrastructure work at scale.

4. Dynamic Discussion on Utilities and EV Adoption
Kevin Spangenberg, Monta StratOps Manager, shared insights during a panel titled “The Role of Utilities in EV Adoption.” He discussed how utility firms can adapt to the changing EV landscape, emphasizing the importance of innovation to avoid losing market share.
Looking Ahead
MOVE America was a fantastic opportunity for us to meet new people, exchange ideas, and look ahead to the future of EV charging. Thank you to everyone who visited our booth, attended our keynote, panel, or workshop at MOVE America and took part in these discussions. We’re looking forward to continuing the conversations and working together to shape the future of mobility!
