Get Charged: How a Two-Person CPO Is Winning Long Island’s EV Drivers

Get Charged is a young CPO in New York that is focused on delivering a high-quality driver experience across high traffic sites around the New York Metro area.

Marc Horowitz and Mitch Anderson are the founders and two-man team running Get Charged on a daily basis. In a matter of just months, the small team was able to build and energize four locations on Long Island – Whitestone, Glen Oaks, Elmont, & Levittown – with a fifth in Commack on the way.

“We have four operating EV charging stations that all make money already… and that’s something most charge point operators in America can’t say.”
Mitch Anderson, Get Charged Managing Partner

Marc and Mitch are delivering a local, hands-on service to Long Island EV drivers. They are fast becoming a brand known in the area for high-quality, reliable charging (Don’t take our word for it, see their Google reviews). They switched over to Monta in March 2026 and it is just the start of a long, positive collaboration between the two companies that share a mission to deliver the best charging experience for drivers.

Below is the story of making the switch and some details around Get Charged’s unique approach to the driver experience and building loyalty.

Switching over to Monta

Get Charged started their journey with a different charging platform. Luckily, they eventually saw the light and decided to switch to Monta in the spring of 2026.

Migrating charging sites – even if it is just a handful – is always a sensitive topic. Drivers have become accustomed to a certain app or way of starting a charge. There is a hardware manufacturer involved, payment terminals, and new tools to learn. Charging platforms are what knits together the entire charging operation.

From the start, the Monta Miami post-sales team – led by Rachel Levine and Kobe Van Reusel – worked closely with Marc and Mitch to ensure a smooth transition to Monta. This meant comprehensive mapping of all chargers, OCPP configuration changes, QR-code switching, and physical re-labeling of the chargers. It was done in phases, site by site. It ended up being a smooth process with all four sites switched over in just two weeks.

One of the core reasons for switching was reducing vendor dependency. With their previous provider, Get Charged had to rely on different vendors to form their tech stack. Different providers for payments, driver support, data analysis, and payment terminals. With Monta, everything became centralized. In Mitch’s words from a call early-on: “You just reduced five relationships for me. I am so happy. I love it.”

Then it was a matter of driver education, with both Marc and Mitch spending long days down at their sites, ensuring that drivers knew how to start and pay for a charge with their new app, Monta Charge. They were immediately impressed by how quickly drivers could start a session, no app download required, and soon felt comfortable observing from their cameras instead of onsite. There is always a little bit of a learning curve but with a few new dashboards created, some pre-auth tweaks, and many driver conversations – it turned out to be a broadly smooth process for both operator and drivers alike.

“I can’t imagine running a charging business without Monta. I use it every single day of my life. Saturdays included.””
Mitch Anderson, Get Charged Managing Partner

Driver experience obsession

There is a lot of lip-service paid to the driver experience in the EV charging industry. But when Get Charged says they put the driver front and center, they mean it. Marc and Mitch are genuinely on-site at one of their four locations almost every day, speaking with drivers, getting feedback, and educating them.

They will track a failed charge through to a successful resolution – or lack thereof- to see if a driver ended up getting it to work on a second try or at a different charge on-site. If that driver left the site without a successful charge and they have the phone number on file – because the driver created a Monta Charge account – they will call them personally to inquire about what went wrong.

This type of service may be difficult to scale across 30 sites, but the Get Charged team recognizes that by staying local and close to their drivers for these first sites, they can carve out a brand that is known for genuinely caring about drivers always driving away with a successful charge. Dedicating their time and energy to nailing these first sites is the only way to lay a foundation for future scale.

Employing sophisticated loyalty strategies

From day one, Get Charged has recognized the importance of rideshare drivers in growing utilization rates at their sites. Thanks to incentives from companies like Uber and the  Green Rides initiative, rideshare drivers in the New York CIty area are converting to electric faster than many other urban metros.

Rideshare drivers are, however, also quite price-sensitive. They are generally more likely than everyday EV drivers to price-shop and seek the lowest possible $/kwh price. It is understandable as they are responsible for their cost inputs as individual proprietors and the lower they can keep their costs, the better margin they can earn on every ride.

So what has Get Charged done to build loyalty amongst this key group of drivers? They have a two-pronged approach: one built within the Monta ecosystem and one with a key Monta roaming partner.

When a rideshare driver downloads the Monta Charge app, they apply a charge subscription to their account. This gives them a blanket 10% discount off charging at all of their sites. They have also combined this with TOU tariffs with cheapest charging available late in the evening. This has resulted in a somewhat surprising peak charging hour for some sites now being right around midnight. Once the lower tariff kicks in, rideshare drivers flock to the sites and the chargers light up with kWh flowing through.

The other element of their rideshare strategy involves Presto. Presto is an eMSP app used by a lot of rideshare drivers – Presto was founded by ex-Uber employees. As Presto brings more drivers onboard – and Presto is able to dedicate more of their time and resources on driver acquisition – they gain access to Get Charged sites. Revenue from Presto charges is immediately deposited and available to Get Charged. No waiting required.

By combining their own discounted plan along with Presto’s growing adoption amongst rideshare drivers, Get Charged is incredibly well positioned to be a go-to operator for this lucrative group of loyal drivers.

A partnership set up for long term success

Many announcements of new partnerships in the EV charging industry mask what is going on behind the scenes. What really matters is the day-to-day working relationship and collaboration

That is what has been established between Get Charged and Monta from day one. Marc and Mitch are confident that when they have a question, their email will be answered within the same day, if not within minutes. They get immediate answers from Giancarlo, who leads operator support from the Miami office. New tooling has been built. Growth strategies have been created. Monta is in the trenches with Get Charged, responding quickly, diagnosing failed charges, and working together every week to continue raising the bar for charging.

“Monta is highly supportive of your business. They’ll be there when you need them. The platform is highly capable… and finally, they’re cost-effective. It’s the right choice.”
Mitch Anderson, Get Charged Managing Partner

Get Charged has put a lot of faith in Monta as they are getting their business off the ground. Monta is proud to repay that trust. There are five sites now, with surely more to come. Monta is excited to work closely with Get Charged as they “polish their golden egg” in Marc’s words, for years to come.
