How do I show a charge point on the Monta map?

For: Drivers finding public charge points on the Monta map, and operators using Monta Hub who want their charge points to appear there.

The Monta app map shows public charge points to drivers. Show on map is the setting that puts a charge point on that map, so drivers can find it, see its details and start a charge. This article covers what drivers see and how operators switch it on.

What drivers see

On the map in the Monta app, public charge points appear as pins. Tapping a pin shows the charge point's availability, price and connector type, and lets the driver navigate to it or start charging. Private charge points are not shown to the public — only members of the owning team can see them.

How operators show a charge point on the map

For a charge point to appear on the map it must be set to Public and have Show on public map turned on. It also needs to be active and have a location.

To turn it on, open the charge point in Monta Hub, go to the Overview tab and find the Features & driver actions card. Under Hardware & visibility, toggle Show on public map on. With it off, the charge point is hidden from the map, but drivers who have the link can still start a charge at the public price.

Charge points that are part of a site

If a charge point belongs to a site (a group of charge points at one address), the site controls map visibility — the individual charge points do not appear on their own. Turn Show on map on for the site, and it appears on the map as a single pin. See Charging site functions.

Set a price before you publish

A public charge point should have a price. Without a price group it is free (priced at 0) for non-members, so set a price group before you make it public. See How do I configure charge point pricing and access?

Good to know

• New charge points usually have Show on map on by default, but visibility may default to Private depending on your operator settings — check both.
• It can take a short while for a newly published charge point to appear on the map.
• Not showing up? Confirm it is active, public, has Show on map on, and has a location — and for grouped charge points, that the site's Show on map is on.
