Alert monitoring groups the events from your EVSEs into issues and raises the ones worth acting on as alerts. Learn how to switch it on, read the Alerts and Issues tabs, and work an alert to resolution.
For: Operator admins using Monta Hub
Alert monitoring is for operators who run EVSEs in Monta Hub. You need the operator admin permission to open it, even when the feature is switched on for your operator.
What is Alert monitoring?
Alert monitoring turns the raw stream of events from your EVSEs into a list you can work. Events are grouped into issues, and the issues worth acting on are raised as alerts.
An alert tells you what is wrong, how widespread it is, and which notifications Monta already sent about it.
How do I turn on Alert monitoring?
Alert monitoring is in early access, so you switch it on per operator.
- In the sidebar, select Admin, then Release channel.
- Find Alert monitoring in the feature list and switch it on. Operators on the Early access track already have it on.
- In the sidebar, select Operations, then Alerts (new).
- Select Settings.
- Switch on Alert monitoring.
- Select an Issue granularity.
The section now collects events and shows the issues and alerts it raises from them.
How do I choose the issue granularity?
Issue granularity controls how narrowly events are grouped into a single issue.
- Operator-wide — one issue per problem type across your whole network. Fewest issues, broadest scope.
- Per location — one issue per problem type per location.
- Per EVSE — one issue per problem type per EVSE. Most issues, narrowest scope.
Choose Operator-wide to see whether something systemic is happening. Choose Per EVSE when your team works one EVSE at a time.
To change it later, select Operations, then Alerts (new), then Settings, and pick another Issue granularity.
A change to the granularity applies to events received from that point on. Issues that already exist keep the grouping they were created with, so the new setting appears as your network reports new events.
What is the difference between the Alerts and Issues tabs?
The Alerts tab is the working list. Each row shows the status, the number of issues, events and EVSEs behind the alert, and a trend of recent activity.
The Issues tab is the layer underneath. It shows the grouped events themselves, so you can drill from an alert into what happened.
Both tabs filter by status, by asset type — EVSE, location, or operator-wide — and by time window. You can also search by asset identity.
How do I work on an alert?
- Select Operations, then Alerts (new).
- Select an alert in the list.
- Read Details for the scope, when it was first seen, the last activity, and the counts of issues, events and affected EVSEs.
- Read the breakdowns to see which models, brands, connectors and event types are affected, and which EVSEs, locations and accounts.
- Read Notifications to see every workflow the alert triggered, its outcome, and the channels it used.
- Add a Comment to record what you found for the rest of your team.
- Select Silence to stop the alert surfacing while you work on it.
- Select Resolve when the problem is fixed.
A resolved alert leaves the open list and stays available under the Resolved filter.
How does this relate to my existing alerts?
Alert monitoring does not replace the alert setup under CPO / Network, then Alerts. That configuration keeps working, and you keep managing alert groups, rules and recipients there.
Use Alert monitoring to see what is happening across your network. Use the existing alerts to control who gets notified.
