What Monta's AI and benchmarking data-use settings cover, where to find them, how to change them, and what opting out means.

Monta may use your account's data to improve the products you use, specifically to train Monta's AI features and to build cross-operator benchmarks. This article explains what that covers, where to see your current setting, how to change it, and exactly what happens if you opt out.

The two data uses

Setting What it covers
AI & machine learning Using your data to train Monta's AI and machine-learning models, for example the models behind smart features, predictive maintenance, network operations (our NOC and OCPP analyser), and fraud detection.
Benchmarking Using your data to build anonymised, cross-operator benchmarks, for example pricing and firmware insights that let you compare your performance against the wider network.

The two settings are independent, so you can allow one and not the other.

You're opted in by default

Every operator is opted in to both by default. Nothing changes about how your charging is authorised, recorded, or billed, this only governs whether your data helps improve these two areas.

Where to see your setting

Open Monta Hub and go to your Operator profile → Data use. The card shows your current choice for each of the two settings. It is read-only in Hub today.

How to change it

To opt out of either setting, contact Monta support or your account manager and we'll update it for you.

What opting out means

Opting out is complete: your data is removed from that purpose, and the features built on it are switched off for your account. In short: you only get the benefit of a shared dataset if you contribute to it.

  • AI & machine learning: your data is removed from training Monta's AI and machine-learning models, including your historical data. (To deliver features you actively use, your data may still be processed in real time to serve you, but it won't be used to train shared models.)
  • Benchmarking: your data is removed from benchmark calculations, including your historical data. Because benchmarks are built entirely from contributed data, you will also no longer see benchmark comparisons for your own account.

When it takes effect

These choices are honoured from 1 January 2027.

Frequently asked questions

Does opting out affect my charging, invoicing, or reports? No. It only controls whether your data is used for AI training and benchmarking. Your day-to-day operations are unaffected.

Is my data shared with other operators? No. Benchmarks are anonymised and aggregated, so other operators never see your raw data.

Can I opt out of one but keep the other? Yes. The AI and benchmarking settings are independent.

What happens to data you already hold if I opt out? Your historical data is removed from that purpose as well, not just data going forward.
