How do I register an Operator ID?
Explains what an Operator ID is, why you need it for roaming, how to register one, and how to add it in Monta Hub.
Your Operator ID (also called a Party ID) identifies your company in the EV roaming ecosystem. You need it to participate in roaming.
What is an Operator ID?
An Operator ID is a short code that uniquely identifies your company in the OCPI roaming network. It is made up of two parts:
- Country code — a two-letter ISO code for your country (e.g. DE, GB, NL).
- Party ID — a three-character code that identifies your company within that country.
Example: DE*ABC
Why you need an Operator ID
Without an Operator ID, you cannot enable roaming on your charge points. The ID is used to route authorisation requests and session data between networks.
How to register
Operator IDs for OCPI are typically issued by a national or regional roaming hub. The registration process depends on your country.
In most European countries, you register through the national e-mobility roaming hub or directly with a clearing house such as Gireve, Hubject, or OCPI Platform.
Contact Monta support if you need guidance on registration in your country.
