What is an Uptime report?
The Public Charge Point Regulations 2023 have introduced a mandatory uptime data requirement for Charge Point Operators (CPOs) in the UK. One of the key components of this regulation is maintaining and reporting on the reliability of public charge points, aiming to ensure consistent, accessible EV charging infrastructure across the UK.
This guide will walk you through the process of exporting am Uptime report that contains the reliability score for your charge points. By following this guide, you’ll learn how to generate and export this data quickly and accurately, helping you stay compliant with government standards.
What is included in an Uptime report?
An Uptime report can be generated per Team or per Operator. In this table you will find all data points included in the Uptime report:
Information type | Fields | Comment |
Charge point details | - Internal Monta id - Charge point serial number - Operator name - Charge point name - Charge point address - Operator and Team ids - Created / Updated / Deleted dates | |
Charge point type | - Charge point type (AC/ DC) - Max kW | UK CPOs are required to report the uptime statistics of rapid network of their public charge points with >50kW capacity. After exporting the file, you can use these columns to easily sort out fast chargers. |
Uptime statistics | - Available % - Preparing % - Charging % - Suspended EVSE % - Suspended EV % - Finishing % - Reserved % - Unavailable % - Faulted % - Offline % - Blocked % - Planned % - Unknown % - Removed % - Uptime % | Uptime % = Reliability % |
What period of time does the uptime report include?
You can download and export the report at any point, so you can monitor your Uptime values continuously. This is the timeline for the Uptime exports:
In 2024, the export will include data from 1st November 2024 to the export generated date minus one (previous day).
In 2025, the export will include data from 1st January 2025 to the export generated date minus one (previous day).
How is Uptime % calculated?
Monta calculates Uptime %, as it stated in the Public Charge Points Regulation 2023.
Where:
- M is the number of minutes in a year
- mean downtime is calculated as the total minutes that charge points across the network are not working, divided by the number of charge points
- mean time exempt is calculated as the total minutes that charge points across the network are ineligible from measurement, divided by the number of charge points.
Important! In order to correctly calculate the Uptime %, we have enabled Charge Point Operators to put their charge points in the different states, which are considered exempt of the reliability calculation. To ensure that the calculation is correct, you must manually change the charge point state in the Monta Hub.
Add an exempt status on a charge point
This action needs to be performed, when you want to identify that the charge point is not in an operational state. It is very important to keep these states up to date, because it will affect your Uptime % calculation.
You can currently change the charge point state per charge point (not in bulk).
- Open the charge point in Monta Hub
- Select the Integration tab and click on Remote actions
- Select Add an exempt status
- Select the correct status
- Click on Add status
- You can now see the state on the charge point and in the charge points table
Remove an exempt status from a charge point
It's important to remove an exempt status once the charge point is operational.
- Open the charge point in Monta Hub
- Select the Integration tab and click on Remote actions
- Select Remove exempt status
Export an Uptime report per Operator
Only Operator users with Admin and Manager rights can export an Uptime report for all charge points under the Operator.
- Navigate to Charge points on the left side menu
- Click on Export and select Uptime report
- The report will be sent to your email
Export an Uptime report per Team
Only Team Admins with Charge point configuration rights can export an Uptime report for all charge points in the Team.
- Open the Team in Monta Hub
- Select the Charge points tab
- Click on Export and select Uptime report
- The report will be sent to your email
See Uptime % of per charge point
- Open the charge point in Monta Hub
- Under the Overview tab, you will see the Statistics for the charge point
- Locate the Uptime % on the right side
