Explains the team types in Monta Hub — Professional, Private, and the default Personal team — how their features and cost differ, plus the Operator team setting, and how to choose the right one.

For: Operators using Monta Hub

Monta Hub offers a few team types, each designed for a different use case. This article helps you choose the right one.

Team types overview

Professional Team

The standard team type for businesses. A Professional Team lets you manage members, charge points, pricing, and subscriptions in one place, receive invoices, and generate revenue from charging. It also unlocks business features such as roaming, public and semi-public charging, and visibility on charging networks.

Use this for: employee charging, customer-facing charging networks, multi-residential buildings, condos, and residential complexes.

Private Team

A Private Team is created by an operator to offer charging services to individual EV drivers. The operator manages the team and its charge points, while each driver gets access to charging. It represents the relationship between the driver and your operator.

Use this for: offering managed charging to individual private drivers — for example, home chargers you administer on their behalf.

Personal Team

A Personal Team is created automatically for every user when they sign up — each user has exactly one, and it can't be deleted or duplicated. It represents the relationship between the individual driver and Monta directly, giving them a personal wallet to pay for charging, receive refunds, and manage payments. Operators can't see a Personal Team's transactions. This is the default team every driver starts with.

Use this for: an individual charging at a single-family home (no VAT number needed).

Features and cost

The team types differ in both features and cost. A Personal Team is the low-cost default for individual drivers charging at home — it covers the essentials but can't enable roaming, public charging, or invoicing. Professional Teams cost more and unlock business capabilities — roaming, public and semi-public charging, invoicing, subscriptions, and multiple member roles — with the more advanced features tied to Monta's paid plan tiers. Choose a Personal Team for personal home use, and a Professional Team when you run charging as a business.

The Operator team setting

Operator team is a setting on a Professional Team — not a separate team type. When you enable it, revenue from the team's wallet flows directly into your operator wallet, and the team inherits your operator pricing.

Use this when you want to collect all revenue from a location you own — for example, to help cover your operating costs. The setting can only be enabled at the operator level: create a Professional Team (or open an existing one), go to its settings, and turn on Operator team.

How to choose

  • Running a business with employees or customers, or managing a multi-residential building, condos, or an apartment complex? Use a Professional Team.
  • An operator offering managed charging to individual private drivers? Use a Private Team.
  • An individual charging at a single-family home? A Personal Team is created for you automatically — no setup needed.
  • Want the revenue from a location you own to flow into your operator wallet? Use a Professional Team and enable the Operator team setting.
