Idle fee

A per-minute fee for when a car stays plugged in after charging is complete. It encourages drivers to move their car so the next driver can charge. Only charge points that support release detection can apply this fee correctly.

  1. Click the plus sign.
  2. Enter a name and the amount per minute.
  3. Apply after (optional): the number of free minutes after charging is complete before the idle fee starts. For example, 15 minutes gives drivers time to return to their car.
  4. Maximum total idle fee (optional): the most a driver can be charged in idle fees for one charge.
  5. Grace periods (optional): times of day when no idle fee is charged, for example overnight. See below.
  6. Click Save changes.

Grace periods

A grace period is a time window each day when the idle fee is not charged. Use it when it is fine for cars to stay plugged in, for example overnight at a residential or hotel location, when nobody is waiting to charge.

  • How to add one: in the idle fee, go to Grace periods. On the Visual tab, click the 24-hour timeline to add a period and drag its ends to set the times. On the Table tab, enter a From and To time.
  • Overnight periods: a period can cross midnight, for example 22:00 to 07:00.
  • Several periods: you can add more than one, but they cannot overlap.
  • Every day: grace periods apply every day of the week, in the charge point's local time.
  • What happens during a grace period: idle minutes inside the period are free. Idle minutes outside it are charged, up to the maximum total idle fee if you set one.

Example: idle fee 0.20 EUR per minute, apply after 15 minutes, grace period 22:00–07:00. A car that finishes charging at 21:30 and is unplugged at 08:00 pays for 21:45–22:00 (15 minutes) and 07:00–08:00 (60 minutes): 75 minutes × 0.20 EUR = 15.00 EUR.

Roaming price groups: the maximum total idle fee and grace periods are not available.

Minute fee: the minute fee can start after a set number of minutes, but it does not support a maximum amount or grace periods.
