Home charging reimbursement with Strømstøtte (Norway) – Employees

Strømstøtte is a Norwegian government electricity subsidy that reduces your household electricity cost. Monta automatically applies this subsidy when calculating your home charging reimbursement, ensuring your reimbursement reflects your actual charging costs.

What is Strømstøtte

The Norwegian government reimburses 90% of electricity costs above 0.75 NOK/kWh (excluding VAT). This applies to spot price electricity contracts. Strømstøtte only applies at your primary residence.

When you charge at home, Monta deducts the Strømstøtte amount (if applicable) before calculating what your employer owes you. Your employer pays the net cost after the subsidy.

Strømstøtte does not apply to fixed kWh price electricity contracts.

Request reimbursement

To receive reimbursement, you need to provide your electricity cost details.

Step 1 — Select your contract type

1. Open the Monta app.
2. Go to Reimbursements.
3. Tap Provide electricity costs.
4. Under What type of electricity contract do you have?, select Spot price.
5. Tap Next.

Your price zone (NO1–NO5) is automatically detected from your charge point’s address.

Step 2 — Set up Strømstøtte

1. On the Strømstøtte screen, review the toggle Should strømstøtte be applied?
2. Leave the toggle on if you are on a spot price contract at your primary residence.
3. Turn the toggle off if this charge point is not at your primary residence.
4. Tap Next.

Step 3 — Add additional costs (optional)

1. On the Additional costs screen, enter any extra per-kWh fees charged by your utility provider (such as grid fee and supplier markup).
2. Enter the amount under Additional cost per kWh incl. VAT in NOK/kWh.
3. Tap Next.

Step 4 — Confirm and submit

1. Review the cost summary on the Confirm costs screen.
2. Select I confirm that the electricity costs I entered are correct.
3. Tap Request reimbursement.

Your employer will be notified to review and approve your request. You will be notified once the request is pproved.

View and edit your electricity costs

After your initial setup, you can update your electricity cost details at any time.

1. Open the Monta app.
2. Go to your charge point settings.
3. Tap Electricity costs.

From this screen, you can:

• Switch between Spot price and Fixed kWh price
• Turn Should strømstøtte be applied? on or off
• Update your Additional cost per kWh incl. VAT

Tap Save to apply any changes.
