What are Charge profiles?
Charge profiles is a feature, which allows you to set up SmartCharge and Scheduled charges on your fleet, with the use of charge keys (RFIDs). For this you need your charge points and charge keys to be connected to the same Team.
SmartCharge profiles allow you to create a SmartCharge schedule depending on your preferences regarding electricity cost, CO2 consumption and renewable energy. Scheduled charging profiles allow you to set a specific time, when your car will start charging on your charge point.
Before you set up a Charge profile, here are a couple of things to consider:
Fallback start SOC % - If the vehicle cannot communicate the state of charge, system assumes this value when the charge should start. For example, start the charge when battery is at 20%. Please note that a vehicle can only communicate the SOC, if it is integrated with Monta.
Vehicle max battery override % - this would be the maximum battery charge percentage. For example if you add 80% the vehicle will be charged maximum to 80% battery capacity.
After you create the Charge profile, you have to assign it to a charge key. When you want to apply the Charge profile, you just need to use the RFID card on the charge point, which will set up a SmartCharge or Scheduled charge.
SmartCharge profile
- In the Team, go to the Charge Profiles tab
- Click on + New
- Select Smart charge pickup and name the profile
- Select battery values for starting and stopping the charge
- Set up your SmartCharge preferences
- Select when you want the vehicle to be ready every day
- Click on Save
Example of SmartCharge profile
Fallback start SOC % = 20%
Vehicle max battery override % = 80%
SmartCharge preferences = 100% Price
Pickup time = 5:00 AM
The driver plugs the vehicle to charge and taps the RFID on the charge point. If the vehicle has 60 kWh battery, then it needs to charge 36 kWh. The charge will be calculated to take place when it is cheapest to charge 36 kWh, while making sure it is done charging before 5:00 AM. Many things go into this calculation, including the charge point effect, etc.
Scheduled Charge profile
With Scheduled charge, you just need to select when the charging should start.
- In the Team, go to the Charge Profiles tab
- Click on + New
- Select Schedule start and name the profile
- Select battery values for starting and stopping the charge
- Select when you want the charge to start
- Click on Save
Apply Charge profile to a charge key
Make sure you have connected the charge keys in the same Team as the Charging profiles you are setting.
- In the Team, go to the Charge Profiles tab
- Click on the action button of a Charge profile
- Select Apply to RFID
- Select the charge keys that should have this profile
- Click on Save
