Create a Custom Subscription plan

Learn how to create a custom service subscription and apply it to your clients, in Monta Hub.

What is a Custom Subscription plan?

The Custom Subscription is a monthly payment plan available for Charge Point Operators (CPOs). Opting to offer monthly services to your clients, the Custom Subscription offers a convenient method for collecting payments from end users. With Custom Subscriptions, you can offer a wide range of services to your clients, including operational support, maintenance, leasing, charge point repairs, and more.

Through Monta Hub, you have the flexibility to create multiple Custom Subscription plans as required. When you create and apply these services to the charge points, your company assumes the role of a third-party service provider, responsible for managing the plan and delivering the agreed-upon services to your clients.

Create a Custom Subscription plan

Custom Subscription plans can only be created by Operator users with Admin or Manager user rights.

Services

Navigate to the side menu and select Subscriptions. Then click on + Create a plan or Add new.

  1. Give the plan a name
  2. Write a summary of your services
  3. Check the plan so far and click Next

Pricing & Details

  1. State the monthly price, including VAT
  2. Select if you want to add additional fees, which you will receive as a service provider
    • Toggle on to add the fee
    • Look at the plan summary on the side to see how the plan is changing
  3. After you finalize all fees, review the plan summary and click Next

Monthly subscription priceThis is the price the customer will pay per month. Make sure it includes VAT.Monta gets 10% commission of the monthly plan price at the time of purchase.

Different rates may apply, according to your contract with Monta.
Transaction feeX% of the price of every charge on a charge point with this subscription will be transferred to your Operator Wallet.

This is your Operator cut, as a service provider to this charge point.
The fee does not include VAT. It is added on top of the fee.

If you input 2% fee, as there is 25% VAT, the Team will be charged 2,5% of the charge price.

Example:
Price for charge is 100 DKK
Additional fee % is 2%
You will receive 2,5 DKK
Transaction fee per kWhAbsolute amount of every charge on a charge point with this subscription will be transferred to your Operator Wallet.

It is calculated per kWh.

This is your Operator cut, as a service provider to this charge point.
The fee does not include VAT. It is added on top of the fee.

If you input 1 DKK fee, as there is 25% VAT, the Team will be charged 1,25 DKK per kWh.

Example:
Charge is for 5 kWh
Absolute fee is 1 DKK/kWh
You will receive 6,15 DKK
Roaming transaction feeX% of the price of every roaming on a charge point with this subscription will be transferred to your Operator Wallet.

This is your Operator cut, as a service provider to this charge point.
Fee is calculated the same as Transaction fee (see above).

For this fee to be applied, it requires the charge point to have activated Roaming.

It is applied only on charges that are performed on the charge point via a roaming platform.
Roaming transaction fee per kWhAbsolute amount of every roaming charge on a charge point with this subscription will be transferred to your Operator Wallet.

It is calculated per kWh.

This is your Operator cut, as a service provider to this charge point.
Fee is calculated the same as Additional fee kWh (see above).

For this fee to be applied, it requires the charge point to have activated Roaming.

It is applied only on charges that are performed on the charge point via a roaming platform.

Details & Settings

  1. Write a detailed explanation of the services you offer
  2. State the exact terms of the subscription plan
  3. Include a contract URL and a support email (strongly recommended)
  4. Select which models you support to subscribe to your plan
  5. Select if you want to apply the plan per charge point or per Team
  6. Select if you want to manually approve every new subscription
  7. Select if you want to allow your customers to cancel the subscription by themselves, or they need to contact you to cancel it for them.
  8. Click Create and await for the plan to be approved

Apply as a subscription toSelect between Individual charge points and All charge points in a TeamIf you select to apply the subscription plan per charge point, then you need to do it individually per charge point.

If you select to apply it per Team, the Team will be charged Monthly plan price X number of charge points in the Team.
Subscription requires approvalSelect Yes or NoIf you select Yes, you need to manually approve each subscription after you apply it.

If you select No, a new subscription will be automatically approved instantly after you apply it.
Subscription can be canceled by the charge point ownerSelect Yes or NoIf you select Yes, your customer can cancel the subscription by themselves.

If you select No, your customer needs to reach out to you to cancel the subscription.

We recommend to review your cancelation policy in the contract you sign with your customers and make an educated decision, based on that.

How is a custom subscription plan activated

Once saved, your Custom Subscription plan is sent for review by a Monta Customer Success Manager.

Until the plan is approved, you will see it as Pending.

Once it is approved, it will be shown as Active and you can begin applying it to the charge points.

Apply the subscription on a charge point

If you have set up the Custom Subscription to be applied “For Charge Point”, then you need to apply it on each charge point individually.

Applying and approving Custom Subscriptions can only be performed by Operator level users with Admin or Manager level rights.

Apply the subscription on a charge point

  1. Open the charge point in Monta Hub
  2. Go to the Subscription tab and click on Select subscription
  3. Choose the correct subscription and click Continue
  4. Confirm the application by selecting Apply
    • If you have set the plan to automatically approve new subscriptions, it will show as “Active”
    • If you need to manually approve the subscription, continue to next step

Approve the subscription on a charge point

  1. Click on the three action dots and select View subscription
    • This will lead you to the Custom Subscription Plan page
  2. Open the Pending subscriptions
  3. Select to View the subscription
  4. Click on Approve now
    • You can select a custom date, when you want the client to be charged for the first time
    • You can also upload the contract with the client
  5. Click on Approve
  6. The subscription is now active!
    • The client will be charged from the Team Wallet every month on the purchase date.

Apply the subscription on a Team

If you have set up the Custom Subscription plan to be applied For Team, then you need to apply it on a Team. This type of plan allows you to apply the subscription on all charge points within a Team, at once.

Applying and approving Custom Subscriptions can only be performed by Operator level users with Admin or Manager level rights.

Apply the subscription on a Team

  1. Open the Team in Monta Hub
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Scroll down to the Subscription section and click on Apply Subscription
  4. Select the correct plan from the drop-down menu and click on Apply Subscription
    • If you have set the plan to automatically approve new subscriptions, it will show as Active
    • If you need to manually approve the subscription, continue to next step

Approve the subscription on a Team

  1. Click on View subscription
    • This will lead you to the Custom Subscription Plan page
  2. Open the Pending subscriptions
  3. Select to View the subscription
  4. Click on Approve now
    • You can select a custom date, when you want the client to be charged for the first time
    • You can also upload the contract with the client
  5. Click on Approve
  6. The subscription is now active!
    • Monthly plan price will be charged from the Team Wallet every month on the purchase date.
    • The client will be charged number of charge points in Team X monthly plan price

Frequently asked questions

Can I set new subscriptions to be automatically approved?

Yes, you can set new custom subscriptions to be automatically approved.

Go to edit the Subscription Plan and set the field “Does the subscription require approval before being activated?” to “No”. Next time you apply the Subscription, it will immediately become active.

 


I created a Subscription Plan. Why is it “Pending”?

Once you create a new Subscription Plan, it needs to be reviewed and approved by a Customer Success Manager at Monta. Until then, you will see the status of the plan as “Pending”.

When plan has been approved, it will show as “Active”.

You can only apply a Subscription Plan if after it has been approved.
