This is a country-specific article. For more information on what Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR) is and Monta’s role in compliance, take a look at Charge point data reporting in compliance with AFIR.

Data provision requirements in Ireland

National platform for data reporting

By 14 April 2025, to comply with AFIR, in Ireland all Charge Point Operators (CPOs) must provide free, unrestricted access to the specified data and submit their API information to Ireland’s Open Data Portal (data.gov.ie), which serves as the National Access Point (NAP) under AFIR for data discovery.

To do so, CPOs must ensure that they hold a unique identification (’ID’) and their charging station data is correctly reported via the national registry Transportation Infrastructure Ireland (TII) who have developed a Data Exchange Platform (DXP) to provide static and dynamic data from CPOs via the National Access Point.

Data types to be reported

AFIR mandates that specified static and dynamic data for all public recharging infrastructure must be openly accessible.

Static Data: Includes location, operating hours, accessibility features, and technical specifications of charging stations.

Dynamic Data: Real-time information on the operational status, availability, pricing, and whether the electricity supplied is renewable.

How this works

IMPORTANT!

We recommend you to avoid reporting or uploading data yourself. You should simply register for your operator ID in the IDRO platform (if you haven’t already done so), then allow Monta full control to streamline data reporting.

Instructions for CPOs not yet registered for IDRO

  1. Operators need to register in IDRO and get their own IDRO_ID.
  2. Once completed, share the registration form with TII by sending the completed form to AFIRdata@tii.ie
  3. TII will issue a unique IDRO ID that includes a 3-character alphanumeric code.
    • During registration, CPOs can suggest a preferred code, and where possible, TII will accommodate this code to help align with existing identifiers and reduce the burden of managing multiple IDs.
    • On the DXP Registration Form, the operator should indicate that Monta is their Data Management system

Instructions for CPOs already registered for IDRO

  1. Once a CPO has registered for IDRO and received their CPO_ID, operators should share this ID with Monta via their Customer Success Manager.
  2. Operators must make sure to share the requested data by AFIR via Monta Hub, and enable Roaming in their charge points that are expected to be reported.
  3. Monta will then share all the required data from operators to the Data Exchange Platform (DXP) via OCPI 2.2.1.
  4. DXP makes the charge point data accessible via the NAP website.

You can access the FAQs section on TII website here.
