Introduction
What is AFIR?
The Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR) is an EU-wide mandate ensuring transparent, standardized, and accessible charging networks. It requires Charge Point Operators (CPOs) to report charging station data to National Access Points (NAPs) to enhance interoperability and user experience.

Why is data reporting necessary for Charge Point Operators?
Data reporting ensures CPOs comply with regulations while making their charging stations visible and accessible. Accurate, real-time data improves user experience, network planning, and cross-border charging. Non-compliance may lead to penalties or operational restrictions.
Monta’s role in data sharing for AFIR compliance
Data reporting presents significant challenges for operators, especially those with presence in multiple countries.
- Integrating with different national registries
- Following varying protocols and data formats
- Managing ongoing data reporting requirements
- Staying compliant with both EU-wide and country-specific regulations
Monta is committed to eliminating these burdens by integrating directly with national platforms on behalf of our customers, positioning ourselves as a trusted partner that covers many CPOs' compliance needs with a single, unified solution.
Monta acts as a data hub, automating compliance by seamlessly submitting required CPOs data to National Access Points. This eliminates manual reporting, ensures accuracy, and keeps charging information accessible to users, authorities, and e-mobility providers.
- Monta will operate from one global account that represents all CPOs using Monta
- Monta needs to collect AFIREV code from each CPO
